Review | Let’s Sing 2022

LifeisXbox’s Let’s Sing 2022 review | What is the first thing Just Dance and Let’s Sing players do the very first time they launch the game? I will allow you a few seconds to think… still don’t know it? Come on… it is curious human nature! Checking the song list… OBVIOUSLY! It makes or breaks each yearly edition. Finding a sweet mix between new songs, old classics, and hidden gems ain’t an easy task and every player has a different taste. For us, as I tested Let’s Sing 2022 with my girlfriend, we found this year’s edition a bit disappointing but someone else can find it incredible. More about the songs later, I first want to point out how much I love games like this. Nowadays, we’re only left with Just Dance and Let’s Sing when it comes to party games that bring the family or friends together. I wish more publishers would invest in games that move gamers out of their comfort zone.

This is a short review, our usual the good, mixed and the bad was difficult because of the nature of this game. Reviewed on Xbox Series X | Review code provided by PR/publisher, this review is the personal opinion from the writer.

So about that those songs! You can’t go wrong when you have Lady Gaga, Billie Eilish, Backstreet Boys, and The White Stripes on the list. Or at least that’s the first thing you think… in reality however we found it a bit annoying how many songs on the list had long moments of silence. I’m not enjoying the silence Depeche Mode… we’re here to sing and this year many songs have long moments of instrumental parts without any singing. Feels like many songs are great on paper but don’t fit the gameplay mechanics from Let’s Sing.

The gameplay is once again completely unaltered and I’m fine with that. Yeah, I would love to see some new gameplay ideas in the ancient gameplay loop but Let’s Sing is a fine example of knowing what to expect and buying it. Kinda like the yearly editions from Fifa, although those games do have some changes. Anyway, you’ll still be singing the lyrics and hoping that the microphone (USB) or smartphone picks up your beautiful singing voice. This karaoke videogame is perfect for bringing life to your living room, with up to eight players who can connect to the singing madness. You can also battle it out online in the World Contest mode if that’s more your thing. One mode that truly makes singing fun for us was Let’s Party who combines it with all sorts of mini-games, for example blurring the lyrics.

Let’s Sing 2022 is once again a great reason to get family and friends together. While I wasn’t the greatest fan of the selection of songs we still had a blast singing. And well, laughing at how bad we actually sang is part of the fun too!
