Happy New Year! From all of us at LifeIsXbox, we’d like to thank our readers for sticking with us throughout what was a stellar year for games. And 2026 seems to have a lot of bangers in store as well! We’re starting off the year with a look at the most anticipated titles of January 2026, as voted by the LifeIsXbox crew! Let’s dive right in, so you can get back to gaming!
Mio: Memories in Orbit – January 20
Play as android MIO in a mesmerizing metroidvania where you explore the Vessel, an enormous technological ark overgrown with machines gone rogue. It reminds us a little of Ori and the Blind Forest, but switching organic designs for a more futuristic mechanical setting.
Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade (Xbox & Switch 2) – January 22
Last year, we got Final Fantasy XVI as well as Final Fantasy Tactics on Xbox, and it seemed like Square Enix was turning around on the call of only catering to PlayStation when it came to console releases for their Final Fantasy series. Now, Xbox players will finally get to play FF7R on their favourite console and earn some sweet, sweet achievements. I’ll be one of them! Check our review for FF7R HERE!
I Hate This Place – January 29
Based on the Award-nominated comic book series created by writer Kyle Starks and artist Artyom Topilin, I Hate This Place is a craft-focused, isometric survival horror game filled with twisted monsters and warped realities, all wrapped in a bold comic book art style and dripping with an ’80s horror vibe.
Code Vein 2 – January 30
Code Vein 2 is an action RPG, continuing the “Revenant” theme with new stories, mechanics, and characters, though it features a new protagonist and setting within the established world, offering a fresh start with familiar soulslike gameplay. Check the review for the original release HERE!
Prince of Persia The Sands of Time Remake – January ?? (not 100% confirmed)
Our crew grew up playing Prince of Persia on the Xbox or PlayStation 2 and we’ve always gotten our hopes up when rumors were going around for the remake, but we haven’t gotten a 100% confirmed release date yet. Will Ubisoft host a showcase and shadowdrop this at the end? Or is it part of another planned event and are they using this as a mic-drop moment? Only time will tell!
No Rest For The Wicked (Co-op update) – January 22
Including this, as some people in our team are very excited about this new title from Moon Studios (of Ori fame) but we couldn’t find a confirmed console release date. The 22 January date being mentioned everywhere seems to be related only to the co-op update, but at the same time the devs teased that 2026 would be a big year for the game. No Rest for the Wicked is an Action RPG that wants to “reinvent the genre”.
Which games releasing in January 2026 are you most excited about?

Robby lives and breathes video games. When he’s not playing them, he’s talking about them on social media or convincing other people to pick up a controller themselves. He’s online so often, he could practically list the internet as his legal domicile. Belgian games-industry know-it-all.
