Summer may be wrapping up, but September is stepping in with a lineup that keeps the pace going strong. With big names and fresh newcomers on the way, there’s plenty to look forward to. These are the titles the LifeIsXbox team is most excited for this month, in chronological order.
The Blood of Dawnwalker (Xbox Series X/S, PS5, PC) – September 4
The Blood of Dawnwalker promises a brooding, myth‑laden adventure built around a warrior bound to an ancient curse. It’s set within a narrative steeped in fate, forgotten clans, and encroaching darkness, paired with fast, reactive combat and exploration through eerie, shifting landscapes. It’s shaping up to be a tense, atmospheric journey where every step feels pulled deeper into legend.
Onimusha: Way of the Sword (Xbox Series X/S, PS5, PC, Switch 2) – September 4
Onimusha: Way of the Sword promises a fierce, cinematic return to Capcom’s samurai saga, with Miyamoto Musashi facing the demonic Genma across a war‑torn Japan. The story draws on honor, corruption, and the pull of destiny, paired with deliberate, blade‑on‑blade combat and Oni powers that demand precision. It’s shaping up to be a tense, stylish clash of steel and sorcery that cuts straight to the heart of the series’ legacy.
Halloween (Xbox Series X/S, PS5, PC) – September 8 (Early Access September 4)
Halloween is shaping up to be a tight, nerve‑shredding slasher experience, following a survivor hunted through shadow‑soaked streets and cramped hideouts. It leans into dread, quick decisions, and bursts of brutal action, all wrapped in a tense, atmospheric style that has a few of our team genuinely excited to see how it plays out.
Aniimo (Xbox, PC) – September 16
Aniimo is shaping up to be a vibrant, creature‑driven adventure built around bonding, battling, and exploring a colourful world full of charm. It mixes fast, tactical encounters with discovery and collection, creating a lively loop where every new companion adds personality and momentum. It looks set to deliver an energetic, feel‑good journey that thrives on creativity and connection.
Control: Resonant (Xbox, PS5, PC) – September 24
Control: Resonant is shaping up to be a surreal, mind‑bending dive into a New York City torn apart by paranatural forces, where reality fractures and every encounter feels charged with unseen power. It builds on the series’ signature blend of psychic combat, strange phenomena, and atmospheric exploration, pushing deeper into the mysteries surrounding Dylan Faden and the escalating crisis consuming the city. It looks set to deliver a tense, stylish escalation of Control’s eerie energy, pulling you further into the unknown with every step. Check out Robby’s Preview from the Gamescom 2026 demo HERE
Silent Hill: Townfall (PC, PS5) – September 24
Silent Hill: Townfall is shaping up to be a slow‑burn descent into psychological dread, built around fractured memories, unsettling encounters, and a town that twists itself around every fear you try to outrun. It leans into creeping tension, distorted reality, and the kind of atmospheric storytelling that makes every quiet moment feel dangerous. It looks set to deliver a haunting, intimate take on Silent Hill’s legacy, pulling you deeper into its fog‑soaked mystery one uneasy step at a time.
