Eyes on the Week(end) (6-8 May)

Time to look back on the weekend! What did Friday, Saturday, and Sunday look like for our writers? What was the biggest news from last week and what are we looking forward to? These three questions will be answered in our Eyes on the Week(end) article!

We’re curious about your opinion and played games, so be sure to share your stuff on our social media channels!

Other than completing Fluffy Cubed and checking out the title update for Bullet Beat, my entire weekend has been spent exclusively playing FIFA 22. Yes, I have finally been pulled into this obsession and I know there is a bunch of content for me to learn and get a grasp of. Currently, I’m mostly enjoying Volta Football because of its smaller size and fast-paced gameplay. I did start my Ultimate Team and Player Career but I’m yet to continue with these. I also played multiple games of Pro Clubs with Lewis which certainly showed the level of ‘try hards’ you encounter. I still don’t think you should go against teams that have a significant player count to you; maybe one or equal. Although we (GXXEY GXXEY FC) did get our first win, we moved up into the next division, and I scored my first goal (and received my first red card..) Haven’t found a position I’m comfortable in quite yet but I’m leaning towards some sort of CDM.

Most exciting news of last week: Seeing that Titanfall 3 has reportedly been leaked early and seen for pre-order at GameStop has got me excited! I’m also interested to see if the developers for Dead by Daylight have anything exciting coming up for their upcoming 6th year anniversary.

Looking forward to playing this week: I have to say more FIFA 22, some story titles for my May stories completed award on TrueAchievements, finished off with a sprinkle of achievement hunting.

I still haven’t managed to gain back my motivation to game for some reason. Hoping to get back into gaming and reviewing next weekend. I did play some Bugsnax on my Xbox for a review, but other than that I didn’t really game much.

Most exciting news of last week: I think the announcement of Loki, an upcoming ‘whimsical, pop-apocalyptic fantasy’. I love MOBA’s and this one looks amazing!

Looking forward to playing this week: My week is all about working, watching Eurovision and photographing concerts so doubt there will be time to game!

I mostly played after midnight this weekend, when everyone was off to bed and I was fighting off sleep myself. I even tried to record some footage of The Stanley Parable, but fell asleep a few times. Still, such an amazing game though and feels every bit as fresh as it did when it was first released on PC.  My review will be up on LifeIsXbox soon but you can already count on it being a recommended title. Other than that, I also played some Control, the Xbox One version as there are no cross-saves with the next-gen version. Regardless, it’s an incredible game that shares some themes with Stanley. Both can become wildly ridiculous in no time flat. Lastly, I played The Sorrowvirus, a kind of horror/narrative adventure/walking sim with a nice story, but not the best execution… though I’d still say it’s worth a few playthroughs. Be sure to check Colombo’s review [HERE].

Most exciting news of last week: I got an appointment to go pitch our new Videogame PR company and I’m very excited to get started with it all.

Looking forward to playing this week: More of the same. Hoping to beat both Control and The Stanley Parable Ultra Deluxe in the coming week.

This week I have only managed to play a couple of games. First off Lumote, a review game that is coming next week. It’s a huge puzzle adventure game all contained within one level. But it’s huuuuuuge. A very interesting design choice as well. I’ll leave the full breakdown for the review but just know this. If you are contemplating picking it up, don’t hesitate. My weekend mainly consisted of Sniper Elite 4 since I am gearing up for the release of Sniper Elite 5 on the 26th of May. I’ve been playing co-op with my brother, and this really adds a new level of combat when there are two of you. We take turns spotting and sniping. The X-Ray kills never get old.

Most exciting news of last week: Xbox confirmed that there should now be no issues for people trying to secure an Xbox Series X/S in most territories, meaning more people should be able to play on newer hardware.

Looking forward to playing this week: Bodies of Water VR

I didn’t get to play too much this weekend, but I did finish Mafia II Definitive Edition, which had a few annoying bugs that made it somewhat worse than the original, but what made the original good remained intact. I also played some Night of the Full Moon, which is a pretty fun mobile card building game that really captivated me, it’s from a few years ago though.

Most exciting news of last week: I’d say the rumor of Mafia 4 being in development is exciting.

Looking forward to playing this week: I’ll try playing Mafia II Definitive Edition’s DLCs, but I have no idea if I’ll finish them all, not sure what else I’ll play yet.

Had a pretty active weekend this time around. It all started on Friday when a friend who has been absent from the group joined us for some Minecraft on the realm. We finished the really tall nether portal monument I started earlier, and since I made sure there is enough land, he’s looking at settling in the village I started. On Saturday I actually did the unthinkable and went out into the sun for a ride on my electric scooter. I stopped by my old elementary school having a school festival since my mother works there. But in the evening I returned home, decided it was time to finish Elden Ring again, and started redownloading GTA V.I ended up finishing Elden Ring shortly before lunch. After some more time in the sun with mom for mother’s day, GTA had finished downloading. Together with 2 others from the group of regulars we did another diamond casino heist to get back into the swing of things and had a free for all after that lasted 4 hours and cost more than our earnings in vehicle insurance.

Most exciting news of last week: After going digital for 2 years, the Elite Dangerous centric Lavecon convention is back. And I’ve got tickets! It’ll be so great to see my friends again for a weekend of nerding out!

Looking forward to playing this week: More GTA V. I’m really hoping it catches on again in our group.
