Eyes on the Week(end) (4-6 March)

Time to look back on the weekend! How did Friday, Saturday, and Sunday look like for our writers? What was the biggest news from last week and what are we looking forward to? These three questions will be answered in our Eyes on the Week(end) article!

We’re curious about your opinion and played games, so be sure to share your stuff on our social media channels!

Didn’t spend a great amount of time gaming this weekend as I wasn’t feeling my best. I finished my playthrough of Blackberry Honey (my review should be published this week) and also completed Croc’s World Construction Kit 2 to boost my gamerscore. Pretty simple concept and I must say, some people have created pretty interesting level designs. I also started Zombi, previously obtained with Games with Gold, as I originally thought this was a multiplayer game and recently found out it’s infact a single player story. I was rudely exploded on which killed my character and I now have to travel back to the area to recover my lost gear to progress further. I’ve been thoroughly enjoying getting back in Dead by Daylight; fantastic to play this with Lewis and see him actively learn how everything works. I’ve actually managed to reach irridesent rank again since the new SBMM was introduced. Finally, I went back to Genesis Noir to check out the new title update that was released. Only required three chapter selects to complete in the end.

Most exciting news of last week: Seeing that Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy is making its way onto Xbox Games Pass on the 10th March is pretty exciting considering the fantastic ratings I’ve seen it receive.

Looking forward to playing this week: Dead by Daylight, Will you snail?, and Zombi

Still mostly playing Elden Ring, because that game is huge! I’m finally making some progress now and showing the bosses who’s the real boss. (I’m just kidding, I still die often as I’m a walking glass cannon). 25 hours in, LVL 48 mage. Having fun! Also played some Triangle Strategy on Nintendo Switch. Which is basically Final Fantasy Tactics with a visual style borrowed from Octopath Traveler. Could use a better balance between gameplay and story though. There is too much talking in between battles.

Most exciting news of last week: The Resident Evil games getting a next-gen update. Own all of them and haven’t started playing yet, so that’s great for me.

Looking forward to playing this week: Shredders is coming out soon and the review copy should be at the start of the week. Can’t wait to carve through that snow like butter.

While almost everyone else has been playing the hot topic of the week, Elden Ring, I’ve been busy starting my playthrough of Elex II. So far, the game has decent graphics, but the combat and missions are starting to feel a little repetitive. And, just like last weekend, I’ve been playing Dead by Daylight with my cru… friend. Finally starting to get the hang of escaping from the killer. There was this one match where the killer kept looking for me while I was working on a generator. After looking in that area around the gen 3 times, he just couldn’t find me and he probably never knew I was there, haha – I love being stealthy!

Most exciting news of last week: I’m so glad that the Nintendo Switch version of Doom Eternal finally caught up with the other versions of the game with the shadow release of the update 6.66!

Looking forward to playing this week: That’ll be Century: Age of Ashes on the Xbox! The game releases this Thursday on Xbox Series X|S, and I’m really looking forward to it! I’ll also be playing some more Elex II, still got lots of missions to complete, and still gotta join one of the factions!

I’ve finally come back home on Friday after being around a week and a half away. I’ve played a few hours of What Lies In The Multiverse which I’m going to write a review about soon, so far it’s been a pretty nice platformer to play. Also played a test of a game with friends, I’m not allowed to talk anything about it but I’m looking forward to its full release.

Most exciting news of last week: Guardians of the Galaxy coming to Xbox Game Pass is what interested me the most this week.

Looking forward to playing this week: What Lies In The Multiverse and I’ll see if I’m finally going to finish Yakuza Like A Dragon this week, after all, I’ve been playing it for a while now.

Just like Robby, I’ve been playing lots and lots of Elden Ring this weekend. Without giving away too much, I’ve taken on and put to bed one of Marika’s children and slapped some sense into a second one. Currently, my tarnished is making his way downtown to enjoy some shade under a tree. On Sunday however, I took a bit of a rest from the Lands Between to visit some potentially even less hospitable. Alaska. In Never Alone: Arctic Collection, you experience one of the Iñupiat stories. One of the things I can already share is that I absolutely love the documentary-like insights about the culture. It helps a lot with the context of some levels.

Most exciting news of last week: This isn’t gaming news, but I’m quite excited to hear John DiMaggio is returning to voice Bender in the new season of Futurama.

Looking forward to playing this week: Not going to pretend like I won’t be playing copious amounts of Elden Ring. Besides that, I think I’ll try to find more shinies in Pokémon Legends Arceus now that the Daybreak update is here.
