Eyes on the Week(end) (25-27 February)

Time to look back on the weekend! How did Friday, Saturday, and Sunday look like for our writers? What was the biggest news from last week and what are we looking forward to? These three questions will be answered in our Eyes on the Week(end) article!

We’re curious about your opinion and played games, so be sure to share your stuff on our social media channels!

Recently I’ve started returning to Dead by Daylight because I’ve missed playing it to be honest, ever since matchmaking became terrible and SBMM was included. I must admit though, I’m having a fantastic time back and more importantly, I missed the stealth killers that still manage to successfully jump scare me from around corners. Teaching and playing with Lewis has also of course made everything a far more enjoyable. I also picked up a copy of The Dark Pictures Anthology: Little Hope on Sunday to play shared story with Lewis as the friends pass still doesn’t seem to be working. Played for a couple of hours and will be continuing it but so far, it’s my least favourite out of the three currently released titles. Feels far more like a walking simulator than then others. I installed Butterfly to complete and Castle of No Escape 2 so I could do the recent title update for that easy extra 1000G! Worth mentioning I watched Lewis play 21 on Resident Evil 7 which we played through together in party.

Most exciting news of last week: Feels wrong for me to write anything in this section due to the current situation between Ukraine and Russia so nothing from me this week.

Looking forward to playing this week: Dead by Daylight, PHOGS!, The Dark Pictures Anthology: Little Hope, Outriders, Among Us, Blackberry Honey

All my gaming time went into a game that has so many secrets, that even the starting area can easily take as long as most other games. I’m obviously talking about the best reviewed game ever, Elden Ring. I’m trying my best to have the review out ASAP but the scale from this game is absolutely crazy. Small warning for FOMO gamers, if you never liked Dark Souls or any other souls game don’t be fooled into buying Elden Ring. It is hard to ignore a game if it gets so much universal acclaim but you still have to like this niche genre!

Most exciting news of last week: Nothing exciting about it but I’m using this writing place to stand still for the awful times in the beautiful Ukraine. I can’t imagine how it is to not be able to play Elden Ring, Halo Infinite or any other game because some Russian monster decided to invade your country and bring your friends and family in acute danger.

Looking forward to playing this week: Even more Elden Ring. Maybe some other games, if my addiction to Elden Ring allows it.

I had quite a busy weekend social-wise so didn’t have that much time to spend on games. I did, however, continue my adventure in Egglia: Rebirth on the Nintendo Switch. Still very much love this one, it’s the perfect game to pick up for 30 to 60 minutes per day! I finally got started on Monster Crown on my Xbox as well. Only spent about an hour or so on it so not ready yet to make a first judgement. So far, it has strong and weak points, that’s for sure.

Most exciting news of last week: The Pokémon games announcement. Very unexpected to hear about Scarlet and Violet but excited nonetheless!

Looking forward to playing this week: Egglia, of course. But I’m also excited to see what Monster Crown will bring me.

I’m knee-deep into Elden Ring and played it every chance I got this weekend. It’s fantastic and I never thought an open world would work so well in this franchise but it does and there is always something new to discover behind every corner, alongside an enemy that will show you a new world of pain. It’s punishingly brutal and I have well over 100 deaths already, but I’m not stopping anytime soon! I also started playing Roguebook, a Belgian roguelike deck builder from the developers behind Faeria and the MTG legend himself: Richard Garfield. And. It. Is. Amazing. Soooo addictive and if it weren’t for Elden Ring, I’d be playing this every chance I got instead.

Most exciting news of last week: I’m gonna end on a downer here and instead pick the worst news of last week with the war in Ukraine. It really had a big impact on me and I felt anxious and angry at the situation. Can’t enjoy my games to the fullest when I think about the suffering happening a few thousand miles east.

Looking forward to playing this week: More Elden Ring. I’ll be playing this all the way through March.

This weekend I spent most of my time playing games on my Steam Deck that arrived on Saturday. Initially, I spent time installing games on it but Sunday was when the action kicked off. I started off playing Call of Duty Black Ops 3 Zombie maps with my brother, finding new maps on the Steam workshop has been a great way of breathing new life into this 7-year-old game. With that out of the way, I spent time playing Death Stranding and seeing how well that managed to perform on the Deck. It’s been a great experience so far with more games being tested & enjoyed on the go such as Elden Ring.

Most exciting news of last week: Hearing that Far: Changing Tides is coming to Xbox Game Pass day one. I was a huge fan of the first game & really look forward to this launching on March 1st.

Looking forward to playing this week: Elden Ring!

Just like last week, I’ve been playing Dead by Daylight on PC with one of my friends. However, this time I did get a copy for Steam instead of Epic games, because they got it on Steam as well, which makes communication a lot easier.I have also been playing through LEGO Jurassic World again. I used to play this on my Nintendo Switch, but I recently got it for Xbox as well, and have been trying to get those achievements!

Most exciting news of last week: That’ll be the announcement of the new gen 9 Pokémon games; Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet! It feels like yesterday that Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield came out, to be honest. So far, the game looks pretty decent, and it even looks better than the very recent Legends Arceus, in my opinion!

Looking forward to playing this week: I’m probably going to attempt Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 on the realistic difficulty once more, and try to get that one 0.01% achievement, but I will probably not succeed at that, haha. And I’m most likely going to play some more Dead by Daylight!

I haven’t been able to play anything since I’m not home and I only have a limited mobile connection.

Most exciting news of last week: I’d say that LEGO Star Wars The Skywalker Saga going gold is probably the most interesting thing that happened this week to me.

Looking forward to playing this week: I’m not sure if I’ll be back home this week or the next one, but whenever I get back home I want to continue Yakuza Like A Dragon and also play 2 other games I’ll be reviewing as soon as I can.

I didn’t play any games this weekend since I was on a small trip to the UK since Thursday.

Most exciting news of last week: The Pokémon Presents which revealed the ninth generation, Pokémon Scarlet & Pokémon Violet. I read on Serebii that this game will feature a seamless open world, probably like Legends: Arceus.

Looking forward to playing this week: Elden Ring finally. I was away since the 24th, meaning I’ve had to live vicariously through others. But no more now that I’m back and ready to touch grace.
