Eyes on the Weekend (21-23 January)

In Eyes on the Weekend we share what our LifeisXbox team has been playing, most of the time we have our hands full with review games. Some of those have embargo’s so we can’t always openly share what we are playing. What is interesting for us is to see what YOU have been playing! Be sure to let us know on social media! 🙂

Robby (BloodyGoodReviews) | It finally happened, I got COVID. The virus hit my entire family hard and as you can imagine, it’s not easy taking care of two sick kids when both parents are feeling terrible. I played some games, mostly ones that were easy to pause and make small progress on, the first of which was Unpacking. Not only did I beat this heartwarming game about unboxing stuff and giving it the best possible place in a home, but I also got the 1000G as well. Very recommended, especially because it is on Xbox Game Pass. Afterwards, I started playing Pupperazzi, but sadly the promise of “Pokémon Snap but with dogs” wasn’t upheld. The dogs move weird, you move weird and the game is full of bugs instead of dogs. It’s got some easy gamerscore, but that’s about all the praise I can give sadly. It’s a shame as the elevator pitch was amazing.

Rafael | Nothing to report this weekend.

Alexis | Didn’t play anything this weekend. Me and the future wife were 2 years together yesterday, so we were on a weekend in Les Ardennes.

Aaron | This weekend whilst recovering I played Five Nights at Freddy’s: Security Breach & some Rainbow Six Extraction. Quite surprised by Security Breach in terms of visuals & story. It’s a big deviation from the previous titles in the series & I must say I’m quite liking it so far. The jumpscares are well executed this time round & got me on a couple of occasions. There are more mechanics as well that really bring the series into the modern-day. Lore wise it does change the formula but fans of the series should have a good enough time with the inclusion of new characters. Rainbow Six Extraction on the other hand was a fairly disappointing experience with the new take on cooperative gameplay being rather slow. The enemies didn’t pose much of a threat & the in-game grinding seems worse than before. Despite all of this, some of the new mechanics are a nice twist, like losing your teammate to the alien horde and having to replay a level to retrieve them back if you want to use them again. All in all, I’m more of an RSS original fan with its focus on human counterparts & bad guys.

VicciVulpix | I wanted something relaxing to play this weekend and when I noticed that Pupperazzi had recently been added to Xbox Games Pass, I just had to check it out for myself. Although I managed to get the full completion, I will admit the game wasn’t exactly appealing after playing for an hour. Plus, there is a bug that currently makes you crash from the main menu once loaded; I just persevered and managed to get back in eventually. I also continued my playthrough in Blackwind and I’ve been having a truly fun time with this one. My review should be published soon – make sure to watch out for it and another this week. I ended with a game or two of SMITE as Season 9 starts tomorrow and I’m still yet to complete the battle pass. Looking forward to what the next season may bring and all the new content!

Maui | I started the weekend playing some more Heaven Dust 2, for which I wrote a review. And if you’ve read it, you’ll know I absolutely adored this game and plan to definitely check out the first game as well. I also started playing Summertime Madness for a review, so that’s coming soon! Let me tell you already that this game could’ve been great but unfortunately fell short in multiple ways. I’m still a bit sad about this as I had high hopes and did find some parts of the game enjoyable. Lastly, I played the Pupperazzi on the Xbox Game Pass. Dogs are literally my source of happiness and I have a passion for photography so this game definitely appealed to me! Unfortunately, I got sick of it after less than an hour and I don’t intend to go back to it anymore.

Orange Spark | Nothing to report this weekend.

Colombo | Even though I usually rather play singleplayer than multiplayer, I’ve played Fistful of FragsBattlefield 2, and Crossfire with a friend this weekend; I did rage quit on my last 1v1 match with him though 😅 I also played Yakuza Like A Dragon, which I started this week, and I’m enjoying it quite a bit.

Bradley Delaere | I’ve been playing nothing but Shadow Man Remastered this weekend. Compared to the original, the new, upscaled textures, and brand new lighting make the game look a lot better. Some other changes have been made, but I’ll touch on that in my review, later this week! Honestly, I found the progression system to be quite similar to Spyro’s, haha. The more Dark Souls you collect, the more levels you unlock in the game, similar to Spyro 2’s Orbs. Or the Cadeaux, which are kinda comparable to the gems. One issue, though, was the backtracking, but that’s also something I’ll talk about in my review!
