Eyes on the Week(end) (18-20 February)

Time to look back on the weekend! How did Friday, Saturday, and Sunday look like for our writers? What was the biggest news from last week and what are we looking forward to? These three questions will be answered in our Eyes on the Week(end) article!

We’re curious for your opinion and played games, so be sure to share your stuff on our social media channels!

Had a relatively relaxing weekend everything considered. Over the course of the weekend, I played Among Us and Resident Evil 5 mainly. Among Us is such a laid back game with a great concept; just wish there weren’t as many childish people making questionable decisions and their chat was a little more grown up. In regards to Resident Evil 5, me and Lewis played the DLC which strangely looked far better than the main game itself. Not the best DLC but can’t complain as it was included with the game. Went to see Lewis for his birthday on Sunday and spend most of the time watching Slasher on Netflix while he also completed a couple of troublesome achievements for me.

Most exciting news of last week: Honestly can’t say that anything has caught my attention.

Looking forward to playing this week: SMITE, Among Us, Tiny Tina’s Assault on Dragon Keep, Dead by Daylight.

My weekend was spent mostly playing Egglia: Rebirth. Originally a mobile game with micro transactions, it’s now a full on game on the Nintendo Switch. I’m really digging this one. It’s one of those games I’m reviewing that doesn’t feel like ‘working on a review’, you know. I’m a couple of hours in, so very excited to continue!I also played and finished Lost Island, which is the complete opposite. This is basically a game that doesn’t have anything good going for it. I’m unsure why the developers released this game, maybe to make a quick buck? I don’t even know.

Most exciting news this week: All of the Elden Ring leaks and news!

Looking forward to playing this week: Egglia: Rebirth for suuuuuuure! Cannot get enough of this game!

Was in a weird place mentally and had a hard time enjoying games this weekend. Still had to review some games so I played Martha is Dead, a game with an identity crisis. It went from horror, to detective game, to historical drama and back to (body) horror. Does some things very well but at the same time had a lot of technical issues and weird design choices. Jim will be covering it for Life Is Xbox, so look forward to his review soon! I also continued where I left off in Submerged: Hidden Depths. A surprisingly great-looking indie game with a relaxed gameplay loop. Just some chill exploration and collecting, I love it! The review is only for March, but you can check the preview [HERE]. Also finished writing my review for Ghost on the Shore, you can expect that review on the 24th!

Most exciting news: Cyberpunk 2077 getting a next-gen version. Instantly bought a new Xbox One copy in the sale (free update!)

Looking Forward to playing: Elden Ring. This game is at the very top of my “want to play” list and I even took a day off from work to play!

This weekend I mainly spent my time playing custom Zombie Maps on Call of Duty Black Ops 3 since I never really got into those. My brother & I were hunting for something new to play & decided to check these out. We played a map called Nightmare, and I was immediately blown away by the production value. The map had custom animations, new characters, new voice acting, new enemies, a story, a boss… the list goes on. Needless to say I was hooked on it & this weekend was mainly spent finding new maps after new maps to breathe life into a fairly old game at this point. But the best part is they are free & add a lot of replay value to the game. All you need to do is head over to Steam workshop & search for maps in Black Ops 3 & away you go. Hours of fun!

Most exciting news of last week: My most exciting news this week was getting the 1.5 patch for Cyberpunk 2077 & seeing all of the performance increases it brings along with better frame rates & of course raytracing.

Looking forward to playing this week: Updated Cyberpunk 2077

This week I’ve played too many different games, but I’ve mainly been playing Dead by Daylight on PC. One of my friends recommended this game to me, and we’ve been playing it almost every night for the past week with 2 of his friends, and the game’s lots of fun! Usually, I get bored of multiplayer games fairly quickly, but this one doesn’t seem to bore me whatsoever. Besides DbD, I’ve also started a playthrough of the Tomb Raider Trilogy. I’ve only played the first one, so I’m looking forward to the other 2 Tomb Raider games!

Most exciting news this week: I’m really excited about the Xbox Series X|S release date announcement for Century: Age of Ashes. I played this game on PC, and I loved it (Maybe because it has dragons?), but I’ve mainly been waiting to play this one on console instead, just because of how breathtaking this game’s graphics are!

Looking forward to playing this week: Obviously, that would be even more Dead by Daylight and Tomb Raider. I’m also going to play a game that’s currently under embargo!

Didn’t play much this weekend, I think I played a bit of [REDACTED]’s Beta, sorry, I’m not in liberty to talk about it but I did enjoy my time with it.

Most exciting news: I don’t recall anything that interesting happening this week, so I’ll go with Zombie Army 4 Season Pass 1 being free.

Looking forward to playing: Still Yakuza Like A Dragon and continuing to play [REDACTED]’s Beta if I can. There’s a chance I won’t be at home for one or two weeks, I hope I don’t have to go though.

I want to say I had a varied weekend in gaming this time around, but I’d be lying since I’ve stuck to my usual guns. Monster Hunter Rise saw a lot of my time as I leveled up past hunter Rank 100 and was thus tasked with removing the Star of Despair, Crimson Glow Valstrax from the sky. I also took up the bow in my ever growing roster of weapons I’m trying to master. Next to that I played more Pokémon Legends Arceus as well. This time on my Switch Lite for some on the go fun. I’ve also issued myself the challenge of doing a shiny only run. Aside from my starter, I’m not allowed to attack with a non shiny Pokémon. And you know what, I’ve had some great luck already. I encountered full odds shinies (that’s a 1/4096 chance) of Psyduck and Bidoof. I also managed to find a shiny Paras in a Mass outbreak, temporary events where a certain Pokémon spawns en masse with drastically improved shiny rates. This means that together with the shiny Ponita the game gives you, my shiny team is already 4 strong and growing.

Most exciting news: Probably the newly announced “Next Gen” update for Cyberpunk 2077. I’ve been putting it off to the side for a while until it got some improvements and this might get me to give it another go.

Looking forward to playing: I’m quite looking forward to playing Elden Ring. I won’t be able to play it until Sunday though.
