Eyes on the Week (3rd-7th October)

Time to look back on the week we’ve just had! What did the weekdays look like for our writers? What was the biggest news from the week? and what are we looking forward to playing during the upcoming weekend? Our Eyes on the Week article will answer all three of these questions!

We’re curious about your opinion and played games, so be sure to share your stuff on our social media channels!

This week, I delved into a mixture of games. Starting with Blackwind, which I reviewed back in April 2022 and that review can be read [HERE], to complete the remainder of the achievements I had yet to unlock. It didn’t take too long and with the completion taking ten hours and being a decent amount of fun, I don’t have many major complaints. I also after months of not playing decided to get myself back into Dead by Daylight. My games have been pleasantly enjoyable with my partner and I’m currently back to levelling up each survivor to obtain all perks for my three main survivors – Yui, Nea, and Claudette. I need to somehow learn my looping skills again though as they have well and truly been lost. I’ve been progressing with the main mode in Jojo’s Bizzare Adventure: Battle Royale R as I can’t seem to find any online matches to test myself with; even with a semi-decent player count. Finally, I played Will Die Alone today (not as depressing as it sounds in my opinion) and I will be trying to complete REPLICA to hit my 400k gamerscore milestone later on today if possible.

Most exciting news of this week: Need for Speed Unbound has caught my attention and it will be interesting to see if it delivers. The release of Overwatch 2 has got me excited to play again. Also, seeing the new trailer for the new Dead Space Remake just looked incredible – sadly, the price does not.

Looking forward to playing: JUSTICE SUCKS, Dead by Daylight, Beacon Pines, and Overwatch 2 if I get the time. Plus any games that can keep my achievement streak going!

This & next week will all be about Overwatch 2, the launch hasn’t been so great with the DDoS attacks but the few matches I played were lovely. I also started with Asterigos and damn.. what I played so far is really good!

Most exciting news of this week: Nothing to mention here.

Looking forward to playing: Nothing to mention here.

I haven’t been able to game much recently, and this wasn’t that different the past week. I played some Hokko Life for a LIX review, and no matter how much I wanted to love this game, it disappointed me. I doubt I’ll be returning to it now that my review is done; this can be read [HERE]. I also started playing some Lovecraft’s Untold Stories 2, also for a review, and I’m feeling very mixed. Hopefully, it gets better. And lastly, I also played some Disney Dreamlight Valley again. Holy shit, what happened? When I first played on the Xbox, I barely encountered bugs or crashes but now it’s constant. Guess I won’t be touching it for a while because it’s plain annoying. Too bad, I really loved this game.

Most exciting news of this week: I literally have not been paying any attention to anything this week.

Looking forward to playing: Life is Strange Remastered Collection most likely.

I’m super excited that I finally got to play Trifox, a game I’ve been helping with on Social Media for years now and it’s finally playable on Xbox! I was a wee bit disappointed though that some other people had access to it before me, so I didn’t get that satisfying “rare achievement” ping as often as I would have enjoyed. Other than that, I’ve started playing the PAW Patrol: Grand Prix Racing Game and it’s actually not terrible.

Most exciting news of this week: I guess the Mario Movie trailer that dropped yesterday? It looks great, but I can’t get used to Mario’s new voice.

Looking forward to playing: More Trifox. I’m aiming to get the first 1000G in the world. ^^

Michael

I haven’t been able to play a lot, but this weekend I’m going to play a lot of FIFA 23. The review is coming early next week so keep an eye out for that one!

Most exciting news of this week: I got to say the Overwatch 2 launch that didn’t go that well and the release of the Mario trailer!

Looking forward to playing: FIFA 23 for sure.

Colombo

I’ve only been able to play my current review game. I won’t name it as I don’t believe I’m able to at this current time. Just know the review is coming on October 12th so keep an eye out for it.

Most exciting news of this week: The Mario movie trailer that dropped.

Looking forward to playing: My next review games, and if I can, I’ll also play at least one of these: GTA IV, Dead by Daylight, and Overwatch 2, which I still wasn’t able to try out.

Thomas

I kept it simple this week and only really played 2 games. Final Fantasy XIV has seen me twist and turn in all possible ways to avoid furthering the main story. Not because I don’t like it, but because I don’t want it to end. Gotta keep the brakes on before I just burn through it. Then in Cyberpunk 2077, I worked on my Cyberware upgrades and side missions. I’m also in the middle of romancing Panam while doing her questline. Soon I’ll reach the point where I called it quits in 2021, ready to move forward to missions I’ve never done before.

Most exciting news of this week: Pokémon released a new trailer this week, and it featured an evolution for Giraferig. There was also something about this little studio called CD Projekt Red announcing they’re working on 4 more titles, but that’s probably nothing.

Looking forward to playing:  I’m setting my PS4 back up to play some more Persona 5 Royal. Gotta get back into the swing of things for when the port’s release.
