Eyes on the Week (15th-19th April)

It’s time to look back on the week we’ve just had! What did the weekdays look like for our writers? What was the biggest news from the week? and what are we looking forward to playing during the upcoming weekend? Our Eyes on the Week article will answer all three of these questions!

We’re curious about your opinion and played games, so be sure to share your stuff on our social media channels!

I’ve continued playing Overwatch 2 this week now that Season 10 is in full swing. I’m determined to work through the Battle Pass and get stuck into another multiplayer game to pass the time until the SMITE 2 Alpha Testing begins in May. I’m still enjoying playing with my handful of support characters but have I come to the realisation I enjoy myself far more in unranked right now. I want to revisit the competitive side eventually but right now, I haven’t got the patience to put up with teammates who don’t take it seriously enough.

I also decided to start The Quarry. Yeah, I keep starting games and not finishing them recently; I think it’s a coping mechanism. Although I’ve watched and played through this with Lewis, I decided to play it on my profile as I’ve waited long enough to forget the choices and their consequences. I’m up to Chapter 7 and aim to finish my first full playthrough over the weekend so I can start working on cleaning up the remaining achievements.

When I woke up on Friday morning, I had an Xbox notification letting me know Cluedo was on sale and it was the deluxe edition too! I’ve been waiting to see if this would go on sale since I noticed its release and now I finally get to do some murder investigations and work out the who, where, and what. Me and Lewis spent a good 5-6 hours straight playing; it’s highly addictive and will be something I’m playing on and off until it’s completed. Naturally unlocked achievements and the case file clues have felt rewarding, to be honest.

Most interesting news of this week: SMITE 2 Founder’s Editions are here! Although I will get one eventually, I’ve decided to hold off until I know more about which Gods are getting Ascension passes. I also can’t wait for Little Kitty, Big City to come to Xbox Games Pass! Any excuse to play games with cats!

Looking forward to playing: Mostly the same as this week. Probably. Who knows? This is me I’m talking about.

My week’s been pretty similar to last week. I still played a lot of Invector Rhythm Galaxy, but at least you can now check the review [HERE] Between this musical treat and Balatro, it’s going to be hard to get into my top 3 games of the year 😆

What’s new: I playtested some games from upcoming clients and had a great time with them: Screenplay is a fun CCG about being a movie director (it works surprisingly well as a card game) and Necro Story is an RPG about playing as an evil necromancer.

Most interesting news of this week: Nothing much, I’m at StoryCon today and saw a talk on What The Car/Golf and the Procession to Calvary though. That was nice.

Looking forward to playing: Getting back to FF7R and beating it. I’ve been postponing too much.

Colombo

I’ve played a bit of Slay the Spire again. I managed to beat the game with the 3 main characters and want to do for the ending I unlocked for doing so before playing with the 4th character. I’ve also played quite a bit of Starfield – it feels like Fallout in space so far and it’s been pretty good.

Most interesting news of this week: Didn’t see any gaming news this week.

Looking forward to playing: More Slay the Spire and Starfield.

I have not played that much this week. At the beginning of the week, I finished Mining Mechs, a relaxing mining game in which you try to find what is going on underground. I had a lot of fun with this one.

In the middle of the week, I was craving some picross puzzles, so I started Hatsune Miku Logic Paint S. I don’t expect to finish this anytime soon. I have already put many hours into it and it is nice to just be able to finish a few picross games and then play something else, or just before going to bed.

And last but especially not least this week, I just started Harold Halibut. What an awesome game! I have been in awe of how the game looks. On some hand, it is a bit creepy looking, but knowing how much work the developers put into this game in the past 11 years… makes me sometimes just stop playing to check out the background and all the little details. Such a masterpiece!

Most interesting news of this week: The news over Ubisoft and how they not only killed the servers for The Crew but also removed the game from people’s Ubisoft libraries while it has a single-player campaign. I hope that the “Stop Killing Games” website gets more attraction and that something can be done. I’m glad that we don’t see many shenanigans in the indie space, that is where I have found the love and passion for games that years ago was found in the AAA space.

Looking forward to playing: Many more hours of Harold Halibut.

This week I started playing Hot Wheel Unleashed 2 – Turbocharged which I am really enjoying. It’s fun learning the new courses and getting to grips with them as one wrong turn can lead to disaster, leaving me in last place! I have also been playing Agent Intercept, which is a fun over-the-top arcade action game where you get to drive a transforming vehicle, unleashing chaos and explosions as you try to save the world. The difficulty ramps up quickly, but the sheer fun factor of just one more try keeps me coming back.

Other games that I have played this week are Orcs Must Die! 3 which just dropped onto Gamepass, it’s a fun, frantic tower defence game with lots of orcs and a steady progression system that allows you to upgrade items after each victory, which works well.

Most interesting news of this week: The Wolf Among Us 2 resurfaces after last year’s delays, with four new images showing some tantalising glimpses into the dark and mysterious Fabletown, still no release date but this is promising news. Let’s hope a new release date is announced very soon.

Looking forward to playing: I have just picked up Sker Ritual which is the new game from Wales Interactive, so I am really looking forward to this one.
