Eyes on the Week (6th-10th October)

It’s time to look back on the week we’ve just had! What did the weekdays look like for our writers? What was the biggest news from the week? and what are we looking forward to playing during the upcoming weekend? Our Eyes on the Week article will answer all three of these questions!

We’re curious about your opinion and played games, so be sure to share your stuff on our social media channels!

Another week of mistly playing Labyrinthine. As it’s October, all the Halloween cosmetics are currently in the game, making Lewis and I adamant to collect them all. We have also managed to reduce the achievements needed for completion down to 4, with one currently being unobtainable, but the developers are aware.

We also played a few games of Overwatch 2, as the Battle Pass ends on October 14th, and we both wanted to get to Level 80 for Kiriko’s premium skin. The games weren’t all that great, but I have missed playing over the last few weeks.

Hidden Cats in Tokyo got minimal playtime as I’m on the Video Game Convention level and am having a hard time finding the people needed.

Most interesting news of this week: Although I’ve already played it and completed it, The Casting of Frank Stone is being added to Xbox Game Pass.

Looking forward to playing: Labyrinthine, Borderlands 4, and Supermarket Simulator.

I’ve just beaten SOPA: Tale of the stolen potato in a single session and had fun with it, but it’s also slightly forgettable and will likely not remember details in a year’s time. I applaud the studio mostly for their genuinely great facial animations, and I only learned afterwards that it’s also in Xbox Game Pass. Since you can beat this in about 3 hours, no reason not to give it a try! You can check my review [HERE]

I also just got early access to Just Dance 2026, and my kids were over-the-top excited when they saw that Bluey had a song in it. I think they’ve danced to it at least 20 times already since this first one.

And my “just before bed” game at the moment is Final Fantasy Tactics, which just released on Xbox, and it’s the first time I ever get to play it. I played Final Fantasy Tactics Advance and FFTA2 before this on Nintendo’s handhelds and quite liked them, but this one is off to a very slow start for now. I fully intend to keep playing, though, as I was warned it takes time before it gets going.

Also game-related, but my wife and I have been binging The Last of Us on Blu-Ray! I heard complaints (mostly about the casting), but this show is amazing, and I love how they expanded upon the game’s lore with how the infection spread, the backstory of Frank & Bill edit, like making Sam deaf. They all work, and immediately after watching an episode, we watch the director’s commentary.

Most interesting news of this week: DLC announced for Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 made me quite happy!

Looking forward to playing: Mario Galaxy 2 and Yooka-Replaylee are both colourful platforms I can’t wait to get started in.

Colombo

This week I was going to play Hellclock, but I looked at the time and realised I didn’t have enough for a run, so I ended up playing a tiny bit of Undermine instead.

I played just a little bit more of Back to the Dawn again, Sonic Racing Crossworlds with friends, and finished playing A Way Out with my Girlfriend. I really like the game, but that ending always makes me sad..

Most of my time this week was spent playing Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, which has been really good so far. With good non-forced stealth for most of the time, good combat, a lot of exploration and some interesting puzzles, but others that are pretty difficult.

Most interesting news of this week: More interesting games coming to Xbox Game Pass, like BALL X PIT and The Casting of Frank Stone.

Looking forward to playing: Keeper, Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, and Hellclock.

Missi

I have been playing Yooka-Re-Playlee, and just finished it before writing this segment. It was amazing, and I love that they fixed the camera struggles and added so many more quality-of-life features! I especially love that you don’t have to collect all the 250 pages, only 120, and you still can unlock all the achievements.

Another game I have played this week is SOPA – Tale of the Stolen Potato. I loved this short game where you have an adventure of trying to get back the stolen potatoes.

Also have been playing CloverPit, this game is so so addictive! I even think about it just before going to bed and instantly when waking up. It gives the same addictive feeling Balatro gave a while back, and I love it!

And last but not least, I’m playing Atelier Resleriana: The Red Alchemist & the White Guardian. I don’t play that many RPGs anymore, and I miss the genre; however, most RPGs are so huge! The last “Atelier” game I played was back on the PS2. It is wonderful to be back in this universe! So much fun, wonderful artwork, and always something you can work on!

Most interesting news of this week: All the mixed messaging from Xbox about not mentioning Game Pass price increase, to having that listed on the website, and then saying that only applies to new subscribers. Hearing Laura Fryer (one of the Xbox founders) speak up about this whole ordeal is refreshing.

Looking forward to playing: More Atelier Resleriana: The Red Alchemist & the White Guardian and Faire Trade, which launches next week on PC in Early Access.

This week, I’ve continued playing Towa and the Guardians of the Sacred Tree and have been making good progress.

I also completed Antro, a 2.5D rhythm-action platformer set in a dystopian underground Barcelona where music and art are banned by a totalitarian regime. You play as Nittch, a courier drawn into a rebellion, navigating platforming and puzzle challenges synced to a pulsing soundtrack. It’s very short, I finished it in one sitting, but for the most part, I had fun doing so.

I’ve started playing Yooka-Re-Playlee, which I’ll be covering soon in my review. It’s a 3D platformer and a remake of the original Yooka-Laylee. As a chameleon named Yooka, you team up with a bat named Laylee to recover the stolen pages of the One Book. I’ve played for a few hours so far, and it’s been a lot of fun.

Most interesting news of this week: Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 developer Sandfall Interactive and Publisher Kepler Interactive have announced a major free update for the Game of the Year contender, featuring a new environment, enemies, boss fights, and costumes. Creative director Guillaume Broche calls it a “thank you” to fans.

Looking forward to playing: Yooka-Re-Playlee and Battlefield 6.
