It’s time to look back on the week we’ve just had! What did the weekdays look like for our writers? What was the biggest news from the week? and what are we looking forward to playing during the upcoming weekend? Our Eyes on the Week article will answer all three of these questions!
We’re curious about your opinion and played games, so be sure to share your stuff on our social media channels!

I’ve been playing the same games this week as the week before, so I’ll spare you the details and would like to contribute this entire section to news this week, because there is sooo much to be excited about.
On Wednesday 10 December, we organised the Belgian Game Awards 2025 and I’ve been helping them since 2019. This year, a lot of the Pirate PR clients were also nominated and the evening even culminated in me getting to accept the Audience Awards for OFF, on Mortis Ghost’s behalf. He was feeling sick, so he asked me to go on stage and accept it on his behalf. Luckily I didn’t know this in advance, or I would have been stressing for days of not weeks about it. but I’m proud of how I handled it, despite my stagefright. Here is the clipping for those who are curious: https://x.com/pr_pirate/status/1999149593737535998
From 4th-12th December, I also made sure the Belgian games were put in the spotlight on Steam, which is no easy feat and requires even more prepwork than you might think. The sale page event may be over now, but you can still check all belgian games here: https://store.steampowered.com/sale/BelgianGameAwards2025 (Scroll to the bottom and follow the curator to stay posted on all belgian releases!)
And then yesterday, at the time of writing this segment, was The Game Awards 2025 and I think they might have had the best showing ever, with lots of new games to be excited for, like the belgian Divinity, revealed as the game that was teased with the statue in the middle of the US desert. The Trailer looks like it could have cost 1 million USD to produce, let alone the ad slot cost… But I think I was most excited for Control Resonant, which just looks simply amazing and changes the shooter gameplay for up-close melee combat in a twisted world. Remedy has not disappointed me yet. and Ontos, despite being a weird name, is the spiritual successor to SOMA, which is one of my all-time favourite games. So I’m pretty hyped about that one as well.
And my favourite game of all time, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 took home 9 awards out of their 12 nominations and dropped the long-awaited content update just now, so you can guess what I’ll be playing this weekend. I can’t wait to get lost in that world again! There is a new region to explore, new story segments, new enemies and bosses, new music and a photomode you can even activate in battle. I’m gonna sink soooo many hours into that and I’m thinking of starting 2026 with a NG+ playthrough. I gave this a rare 100/100 perfect score on LifeisXbox and I’m happy that the world agrees that this is a generational masterpiece! Most interesting news of this week: ^^
Looking forward to playing: Pokémon Legends Z-A Mega Dimension DLC.

This week I finished playing the amazing Once Upon a Katamari, and wrote my review as well, which you can read right [HERE]
I also finally managed to get to the end of CloverPit. It was a pretty good and addicting game, I only wish I had gotten even further before opening the door to the ending, as my run was pretty great.
I played a bit of a game I wanted to play for a while now, that game being The Last Campfire, and so far it has been a pretty simple and interesting puzzle game.
Most interesting news of this week: The controversy about AI being used in game development.
Looking forward to playing: More The Last Campfire and Samurai Academy: Paws of Fury for my next review.

This week, I’ve been playing Sleep Awake for my review, which you can read [HERE] It’s a first-person psychedelic horror game set in the last city on Earth, where sleep has become deadly and anyone who dozes off disappears. As you explore, you solve puzzles and confront surreal, shifting horrors while struggling to stay awake.
I’ve also been playing A Game About Digging a Hole, newly released on Game Pass Ultimate. I never thought digging up a garden could be so much fun. You can read my review [HERE]
Aaero2: Black Razor Edition is another game I’ve been diving into daily, especially now that new achievements and songs have been added, as I push myself to beat tracks on higher difficulty levels. Check out my full review [HERE]
I’ve also been back playing Battlefield 6, just hopping in for a few matches a day to scratch that gaming itch. I mostly play the engineer class, surviving some thrilling encounters and constantly improving my kill-death ratio. I find it’s best played when you’re in a squad, all working together.
Most interesting news of this week: Xbox is bringing Fallout to your fingertips with new Pip-Boy-themed controllers. Available in standard and Elite editions with customizable designs, they work on Xbox consoles and PC.
Looking forward to playing: The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild.
Halios
I’ve also been in love with Moonlighter 2. That game has so many hidden features that you start to unlock. Very surprised!
Most interesting news of this week: The release schedules of January is starting to hit and it is looking like a DOOZY of a month! And the WALKING DEAD has DLC in World War Z!?!?!
Looking forward to playing: Blightstone. Just hit my desk but not allowed to showcase anything till January.

Hello, I’m Victoria. I’m from the UK and have been playing video games for as long as I can remember; back on DreamCast. I’ve pretty much fallen for Xbox since I was around eight years old and remember BioShock being my first game on the Xbox360. Although I find it thoroughly enjoyable to not only experience gameplay, I also find comfort in getting lost and engrossed in the online worlds that sometimes differ greatly from what we know. Another side of my Xbox passion would be achievement hunting and gamerscore. I thrive when I hear the little sound of one popping up on the screen and I’m always finding ways to work on my backlog when possible. Horror is my favourite genre so if you have any recommendations, don’t be afraid to send them my way!
