Eyes on the Week (4th-8th May)

It’s time to look back on the week we’ve just had! What did the weekdays look like for our writers? What was the biggest news from the week? And what are we looking forward to playing during the upcoming weekend? Our Eyes on the Week article will answer all three of these questions!

We’re curious about your opinion and played games, so be sure to share your stuff on our social media channels!

I made a small return to my backlog this week. I started a fresh playthrough of Nobody Wants to Die as I needed multiple miscellaneous achievements and to achieve the ‘good ending’, as there is no chapter select. It didn’t take too long to complete. The game wasn’t as good as I anticipated but it was certainly interesting.

Overwatch has been great for the most part. I tried competitive 6V6 for change, and placed in Diamond! I’ve never been in Diamond before! I ended the week at Diamond 1 so I’m really hoping I can get into Masters before the season ends. Even quickplay 6V6 has been far less stressful.

Lewis and I continued Resident Evil 6 and are now making our way through the multiplayer, which is a horrible grind, compared to the main game. It’ll be wrapped up soon and it will be a relief once it’s done and dusted.

Most interesting news of this week: Nothing comes to mind this week.

Looking forward to playing: Backlog. New games. Already started games. You name it.

My entire week was Dead As Disco themed. As if it wasn’t hard enough to put it down and stop playing, I had to watch dozens of creators go live with their own content, and that just made me itch even more to get back to brawling myself. This is SUCH an awesome game. Very likely gonna be my GOTY 2026 and it’s only Early Access. Can’t believe I ended up with my name in the credits. Very much a dream come true, and I feel like I can’t stop long enough to fully enjoy it. Maybe soon!

Most interesting news of this week: Star Fox is back? But I don’t like the realistic style 😅 and Dead as Disco sold 100K copies in 48h, so we’re super excited!!

Looking forward to playing: Forza Horizon 6.

The Dead as Disco Early Access has just launched on Steam, and I have already played through the 4 available bosses, I will be writing and posting my preview in the next few days, but it has definitely been gorgeous and shows promise.

I’ve played a little bit more of a few games for my game pass quests: Vampire Crawlers, Minishoot Adventures, Neon Abyss, and Halls of Torment. I also tried TerraTech Legion, which is a fun roguelike with the option to customize your vehicle, making every run unique.

I played a bit more of the usual Marvel Rivals and Minecraft Dungeons DLCs with friends again.

I’m finally getting close to finishing Judgement after a few months since I’ve started playing it. It is a pretty good game, but it does have a few things I wished weren’t in it, such as having the Keihin Gang constantly appearing and getting in the way of progressing through the main missions.

I’m also still playing a little bit of VR games here and there.

Most interesting news of this week: Dead as Disco releasing into early access.

Looking forward to playing: Finishing Judgement, playing a bit more Marvel Rivals and Vampire Crawlers, playing Duck Side of the Moon for my next review and whatever else I can fit into my schedule.

This week, I kept playing Invincible VS and have been hooked on Arcade Mode while trying to unlock all 18 endings. It’s been a great way to spend more time with each character and experiment with different playstyles, while seeing all the unique ending scenes. Even though I’ve enjoyed trying everyone out, I still have my favourite trio that I keep coming back to. My full review is available [HERE]

I also started playing Strange Antiquities, a cosy puzzle game set in a mysterious town where you run an occult antiques shop. Customers bring unusual problems, and you have to figure out which artefacts can help them using clues and deduction. It is a mix of light detective work and story exploration, with a slightly creepy atmosphere and lots of satisfying puzzles. Even when I’m not playing, I find myself thinking about it. Look out for my review coming soon.

Most interesting news of this week: At a special Xbox showcase focused on Stranger Than Heaven, RGG Studio unveiled new gameplay, highlighting its dual-style combat system and music-driven mechanics ahead of its winter release on Xbox Series X|S, PC, and PS5.

Looking forward to playing: Strange Antiquities and Mixtape.

So it has been a wee while since I last wrote in this section; sorry about that, folks. Now, as for what has been happening this week? Well, I’m still making my way through Resident Evil Requiem, and I’m thoroughly enjoying taking my time and looking at all the amazing art and subtleties that the designers have included in the game, even down to small details like brickwork in the ruined Raccoon City, which just looks amazing. I also started to replay Resident Evil 5 with a fellow creator called Mr Kravin, and comparing the story style and reminiscing over the original games as well.

In terms of indie games, I have noticed a fair few decent horror titles coming out recently, including a PT demake by our very own Aaron Wise, which was a lot of fun to play through since I never actually got a chance to play it originally. There’s also one being published soonish by Blumhouse called Grave Seasons, which looks amazing; it’s a cosy game in the same vein as Stardew Valley with a twist. It’s also a horror game where you must find and stop a supernatural killer (or romance it). As for upcoming reviews from me? Keep an eye out for White Knuckle and All Hail. The Orb

Most interesting news of this week: The secret Cow level has been rediscovered in Diablo 4, and if you find it and beat it, you will be rewarded with some of the most unique items you could think of.

Looking forward to playing: The new Resident Evil Requiem DLC.
