Eyes on the Week (3rd-7th March)

It’s time to look back on the week we’ve just had! What did the weekdays look like for our writers? What was the biggest news from the week? and what are we looking forward to playing during the upcoming weekend? Our Eyes on the Week article will answer all three of these questions!

We’re curious about your opinion and played games, so be sure to share your stuff on our social media channels!

Genshin Impact has been my priority this week as the banners for Furina, and more importantly Wriosthesley, came out on Tuesday. I managed to get a whole bunch of new characters including 4-Star Charlotte, Chongyun, Mika and Yanfei. I even got Dehya, my favourite female character, and of course the cherry on top was getting Wriothesley and his Constellation 1! It’s going to take me a while to level him up though as I’m severly lacking on his ascension materials. For now, I’ll be gathering them when I can and spending my time improving my artifact choices.

Me and Lewis have been playing Overwatch 2 every day and the games, as per always, have varied from completely ridiculous to frustrating sweat fests. I do feel like I’m improving with Ana though – makes a change from switching between Illari and Moira. I competed my support placement matches and ended up in Gold 3 which was to be expected with how bad the games went. I’m going to aim for Platinum 5 as that will be the highest I’ve ever been. Yes, it’s not exactly impressive but for someone who rarely plays ranked, it’s something.

A random and completely out-of-the-blue urge to play a game of Dead by Daylight struck me in the week too. It was even more strange that I decided to play a killer, Wesker, who I have never played! I went for an achievement during the game, managed to get it and kill everyone. Result!

As for an update on my review games, I have completed Crime Opera Fandisk: The Caterpillar Candids and have recently published my review. In case you missed it, you can read it [HERE] and I’m contiuing Crime Opera II: The Floodgate Effect which I’m hoping to finish over the weekend in the hopes of getting the review out next week.

Most interesting news of this week: Split Fiction gettig immensely positive reviews makes me even more excited to play it! In complete contrast, I was really looking foward to trying out FragPunk but unfortunately, it has been delayed for console release.

Looking forward to playing: Crime Opera II: The Floodgate Effect, Overwatch 2 and Genshin Impact. I’m also debating going back to Dungeons of Hinterberg and Age of Mythology: Retold.

I’m starting with my favourite thing: I got to play the Early Preview of Clair Obscur: Expedition 33. This Final Frenchtasy take on our favourite JRPG tropes didn’t just meet my expectations, it BLEW PAST THEM. Honestly, my excitement couldn’t be higher for a new turn-based RPG and this does everything right. It’s like they looked at the golden years of the FF titles, observed what made them great and decided to bring their own entry. and this is from a new studio?? I’m beyond Impressed. You can read my preview [HERE] but pleeeeease play this. It’s coming to Xbox Game Pass on Day One, 24th April, so you have no excuse!

On Xbox, I also played Adventures of a Cat In Space, a short demo from a developer I met at the DEBUG game awards 2 weeks ago. very fun title with a super CATchy soundtrack!

I started playing Pirates Outlaws as I got tired of Slay the Spire and was in need of another good roguelike deckbuilder. They have some really cool ideas and I’m curious to find out what the sequel has in store for us.

Most interesting news of this week: I just heard Eurogamer Benelux is calling it quits. Gaming media is really taking a nosedive and it’s sad to see. Hope we can keep LifeisXbox going for quite some time!

Looking forward to playing: Assassin’s Creed Shadows!

Colombo

I finally finished playing Persona 3 Reload! I’ve now started playing its Episode Aigis DLC and I decided to play it on the easiest difficulty so I can just focus more on the story, as the original game already took me around 5 months to beat.

I don’t usually include this, because I usually play it on Friday nights, but I played a few more hours of Baldur’s Gate 3 with friends last Tuesday. We’re at around 65 hours in and still enjoying it quite a bit.

I also played a run of Monster Train since it just got added back to Xbox Game Pass and I really like this game. It’s a ton of fun to play it. Finally, I started playing Agatha Christie – Murder on the Orient Express and it seems like an interesting game so far – not much to say about it yet.

Most interesting news of the week: Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3+4 being announced.

Looking forward to playing: More Episode Aigis, Agatha Christie – Murder on the Orient Express, and Monster Train.

As I wrote last week, I have been playing a lot of Grimoire Groves. I had so much fun with it! It lacks a bit in the story department but it felt addictive to collect resources and upgrade all kinds of stuff, and bonus points for how adorable it looks.

I also finished Slime Heroes, a cute Souls-like game with a lot of abilities to make it doable for everyone. I don’t like Souls-like games, so I turned up my own damage and turned down the damage the enemies did. I had a great time with it. So many secrets to find in this semi-open world game, and again… it is another cute game, so it fits right into my alley.

I also finished this week with WYRMHALL: Brush and Banter. Yes, sorry, those caps are part of the title. This is a perfect example of how cute and amazing a game can be if they go all in on the theme. You will temporarily fill in for an artifact cleaner in a world full of wondrous creatures. It offers quite a lot of choices in the dialog and what that means for events later on, but if you want to clean an artifact and how well you will clean it also impacts later events. It is a short game but I laughed so hard at many of the crazy events.

Most interesting news of this week: I don’t think I haven’t heard much gaming news or I have been living under a rock, both are possibilities. However, I just read that Caravan Sandwitch won 2 prizes in France, which is awesome and well-deserved.

Looking forward to playing: So many games! March is an amazing month for indie games, but next on my playlist is Wanderstop, which looks gorgeous!

I’ve played some Avowed this week, but not as much as I would have liked. Life just gets in the way sometimes. What I have played through has been really enjoyable.

I finished Ultros and am just putting the finishing touches on my review at the moment.

A friend came over, and we had some epic battles playing Worms W.M.D. We use our own custom scheme, which is always evolving and makes each game very tactical. Some rules we have include only allowing the last player in each team to move until there’s only one worm left, or sudden death arrives. This means we have to make our throwable weapons, such as grenades, really count.

I’ve just started playing Morkull Ragast’s Rage, a platforming action-adventure game with hand-drawn animations, where your character is literally trying to break out of the video game you’re playing.

I also played the first hour of Test Drive Unlimited Solar Crown, which is included in this weekend’s Free Play Days on Game Pass.

Most interesting news of this week: Hellblade 2 is the most-nominated game at this year’s BAFTA Games Awards, with 11 nominations. You can read my review from last year [HERE]

Looking forward to playing: Avowed, Test Drive Unlimited Solar Crown and Split Fiction.
