Eyes on the Week (1st-5th December)

It’s time to look back on the week we’ve just had! What did the weekdays look like for our writers? What was the biggest news from the week? and what are we looking forward to playing during the upcoming weekend? Our Eyes on the Week article will answer all three of these questions!

We’re curious about your opinion and played games, so be sure to share your stuff on our social media channels!

A week of entirely new games for me; ones I’ve never played before but have had interest in. I said to myself in the new year I would play more games out of my comfort zone which I would usually be hesitant about, so why not start now?

It didn’t start too well. Actually, it started horrendously. I loaded up Total Chaos because the trailer looked interesting, but within the first hour, I’d had enough. I broke my only weapon within ten minutes of starting the game because I was searching breakable boxes for loot, and by the time I had my first real dangerous encounter, I had nothing to fight back with, despite searching everywhere. Maybe I’ll go back and restart my playthrough one day.

Next on my list was a game I’ve been interested in since it was announced, which has recently been added to Xbox Game Pass, called Winter Burrow. It’s one of the best cosy games I’ve had the pleasure of playing in recent years and I’m sad it’s already come to an end, with just some miscellaneous woodworking achievements remaining. Survival, crafting, scavenging, and a beautiful story about a mouse, their family, and friends. A highly-recommended game from me.

For my evening game, I decided to play Nobody Wants To Die – a story-driven detective game. I’ll be honest: I enjoyed the crime scene/detective aspects and characters, but I couldn’t explain the games narrative if I tried because I didn’t fully understand what was going on. As another playthrough is required for clean up purposes, maybe I’ll have a better understanding then.

Finally, Lewis and I have been going through Aaero2 in co-op mode. We’ve managed to get 5 stars for all tracks on normal and will be starting advanced over the weekend. The music is incredible and I enjoy following the rhythm lines, but I’ve been struggling with the shooting mechanic. I’m gradually improving but terrified of master difficulty.

Most interesting news of this week: I’ve not followed any gaming new this week so nothing for me.

Looking forward to playing: Stray, Unheard Voices, and whatever else interests me.

I’ve been playing Pirates Outlaws 2 on Steam, a swashbuckling deckbuilder seaquel to hit release on all platforms. Hope this one does well enough to come to xbox again too, as trying to get all achievements on the first was challenging, but fun!

On Nintendo Switch 2, I’ve played about 12 hours of Pokémon Legends Z-A, which I’m still planning to review, but it’s taking me longer than expected. Still, having a great time with it.

On Xbox, I’m still playing DemonSchool, about 18 hours into that one, and also working on a review. It’s like turn-based strategy game, but with Persona highschool stuff when not in combat, and the combat looking almost like a sokoban puzzle game at times. kinda weird, but I like it.

Looking forward to playing: Octopath Traveller 0 just dropped and is tempting, despite being too long.

I’m still playing Once Upon a Katamari for my next upcoming review, I’m approaching its end, and it’s been great! Soon you’ll read more about it.

I’ve also played some CloverPit, BALL x PIT, Kill it With Fire 2, Slay the Spire, and Halls of Torment for Xbox Game Pass quests reasons, but also because I wanted to play them a bit. All were pretty good in their own way.

Most interesting news of this week: We got more info about Slay the Spire 2 at the PC Gaming Show.

Looking forward to playing: More Once Upon a Katamari, CloverPit and whatever else I can fit in my schedule.

I’ve been playing Kirby Air Riders lately, and it has been an absolute blast! I still haven’t settled on a favourite character or vehicle yet, there are just so many fun options, but I keep finding myself drifting back to Kirby because he’s such a solid all-rounder. One game I’ve been diving into daily again is Aaero2, and I’m more hooked than ever! The hype is building too, because two brand-new DLC music packs are dropping, as I mentioned last week. I’ve finally unlocked Master difficulty and wow, it’s brutally challenging in the best possible way. Every track feels like a high-intensity adrenaline rush, and the difficulty spike seriously boosts the game’s replayability. I’ve even managed to beat a few friends’ high scores on the leaderboards, which makes it even more addictive. I can’t wait to see how the new music packs push things even further.

Most interesting news of this week: 1047 Games have announced that Splitgate 2 will relaunch as Splitgate: Arena Reloaded on December 17, 2025 as a free-to-play game on PC, Xbox, and PlayStation, returning to classic arena-style combat with portals, new maps, weapons, and a revamped competitive system.

Looking forward to playing: Skate Story and Terminator 2D: NO FATE.
