Eyes on the Week (17th-21st October)

Time to look back on the week we’ve just had! What did the weekdays look like for our writers? What was the biggest news from the week? and what are we looking forward to playing during the upcoming weekend? Our Eyes on the Week article will answer all three of these questions!

We’re curious about your opinion and played games, so be sure to share your stuff on our social media channels!

This week has passed me by incredibly fast. With that said, I played three different games this week. I started with A Sketchbook About Her Sun which yes, I will admit, I played for the achievements. However, while playing I really couldn’t understand what was going on. A game that’s beautiful to look at but leaves much to the imagination. I then revisited Slender: The Arrival to pick up a couple of its rare achievements for my rare medal goal on TrueAchievements. I always forget how fantastic the atmosphere is in that game; thinking of going for either the hardcore run or speedrun perhaps soon. Finally, I’ve been playing a tonne of Dead by Daylight with Lewis this past week. We are currently working on the second level of the Halloween Tome for the Halloween event, having much fun looping killers, and working to prestige our survivors. Yui is my only focus right now as I want her to be my highest prestige but she is currently tied with Claudette.

Most exciting news of this week: This has to be the Silent Hill showcase that is reviving the series and also bringing us a remake of an original classic. I’m sad this will be a PlayStation exclusive for some time but I can happily wait for it to appear on Xbox – whenever that may be.

Looking forward to playing: Dead by Daylight, JUSTICE SUCKS, Among Us, Overwatch 2, and Robotry! and maybe Friday the 13th/Scorn for me, along with any games I use to keep my achievement streak alive and FPS/VS games for my medals on TrueAchievements.

I played some more Trifox (shocking, I know) to finally get the 1000G. then I moved on to Scorn and uninstalled it after half an hour, the puzzles didn’t do it for me and there is too much aimless wandering. But then A Plague Tale: Requiem came out and oh boy, am I going to have fun with this one. If anyone needs me, I’ll be in photo mode taking pics of plague-torn France.

Most exciting news of this week: The MS reaction to the UK refuting the impacts on PlayStation’s ability to compete if they buy Activision/Blizzard. That doc also had some nice stats and kinda announced the plans for an Xbox mobile games store as well…

Looking forward to playing: More Plague Tale!

This week I have managed to play a little more of Scorn. I do love the environments & the entire game feels alive yet quiet. It’s an oddly satisfying mix, but one that is equally frustrating. The puzzles are hard & despite not giving into looking up how to do something I have made significant progress. Combat is a bit of a letdown & I feel Ebb Studio didn’t do the best marketing the game at what it essentially is. That aside though, if you are into atmospheric games with some myst-like puzzles then you’ll have a great time playing this.

The other game I managed to play this week was my old faithful Hunt: Showdown since they are doing Twitch drops right now for extra in-game content. The new update also introduces a stalker beetle that lets you hunt down campers by sniffing them out. A great addition & it fits nicely with the lore.

Most exciting news of this week: Silent Hill is back! With 4 new games & a movie! I am beyond excited for a franchise that has been both an inspiration to me, and one of my all-time favourite series.

Looking forward to playing: More Hunt Showdown & finishing Scorn.

I started playing Maze Blaze for an upcoming review, it’s a roguelike with simple gameplay. I also started playing A Plague Take: Requiem through the Xbox Cloud Gaming, but I think I’ll wait to play it natively once I get a Series S or X, which I don’t know when it’s going to happen. Finally, I played some more Overwatch 2 and Dead by Daylight.

Most exciting news of this week: Silent Hill being back, despite it disappointingly not coming to Xbox yet.

Looking forward to playing: If I find time for them, Overwatch 2, GTA IV, and Dead by Daylight. I’ll be playing Maze Blaze, Pnevmo Capsule, and The Witch’s House MV for my upcoming reviews.

Thomas

My week was spent largely playing Persona 5 Royal on my PS4 to review it. I’m lucky I still had a newgame+ save a good way into the game, giving me a good refresher on the game and its mechanics. I also played my usual bit of Final Fantasy XIV every day. Working on my crafters and the story in between the Stormblood and Shadowbringers expansion.

Most exciting news of this week: Persona 5 Royal released on PC, Xbox and Nintendo Switch today! I hope everyone enjoys their time with it.

Looking forward to playing: I’m not quite sure yet. Still sorting out what switch games I’ll bring on my travels starting Tuesday.

Stu

This week for me has been all about Ni No Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch Remastered. Playing that whenever I can do, at least until life takes over.

Most exciting news of this week: Undoubtedly the Bayonetta 3 voice actress dispute which has seemingly taken hold of the gaming landscape.

Looking forward to playing: More Ni No Kuni and getting that completed and I’m going to download Beacon Pines and give that a whirl.
