Eyes on the Week (11th-15th August)

It’s time to look back on the week we’ve just had! What did the weekdays look like for our writers? What was the biggest news from the week? and what are we looking forward to playing during the upcoming weekend? Our Eyes on the Week article will answer all three of these questions!

We’re curious about your opinion and played games, so be sure to share your stuff on our social media channels!

A very similar week compared to last week. I played plenty of Overwatch 2 with Lewis, sticking mostly to support with the occasional tank/dps game. I’m enjoying Lucio progressively more. However, I didn’t fancy trying out the new support, Wuyang, during his trial period as his healing output and playstyle didn’t look like something I would be interested in learning.

In the evenings. I’ve been continuing the multiplayer element of Crime Boss: Rockay City with Lewis, completing every mission, heist, and urban legend as intended. We stuck to stealth whenever possible and only went loud when there were no other options. However, now we’ve finished everything in co-op, we only have the single-player side of the game left, which, if I’m being brutally honest, I’m not looking forward to.

Although we didn’t play as much, we still played a few games of Breakthrough on the Battlefield 6 Open Beta. I’m still not sold on the game if it were to be released as I played it (far from it), but that’s not to say I won’t play it one day in the distant future.

Most interesting news of this week: It’s not often I write about myself in this section, but… I turned 30 on Friday! I’m officially in my 30s era now!

Looking forward to playing: Overwatch 2 and Discounty. I’ll also probably start either Nobody Wants to Die or Life is Strange: Double Exposure.

I haven’t had many updates on what I’ve been playing: still Patapon 2 Replay and Donkey Kong Bananza. But I’ve also just installed Hell Is Us demo and am excited to see what that is about!

Also not game related, but I’m binging the Final Destination movies one after the other so I can watch Bloodlines 😁

Most interesting news of this week: OFF is out! A 2007 cult classic now on Steam and Switch, super excited to hear what people think. And still addicted to Peglin.

Looking forward to playing: Hell Is Us demo. And Cronos the New Dawn at Gamescom next week!

I’m still playing OFF for my upcoming review. I finished playing Steamworld Dig 2 for the 2nd time: still can’t believe how such a beautiful game requires less than 300mb on Xbox. I also played It Takes Two with my girlfriend and Baldur’s Gate 3 with friends again.

Finally, I started Mullet Madjack for Xbox Game Pass quest reasons, but it’s a pretty good and addictive game to play.

Most interesting news of this week: Nothing that I can recall, other than OFF releasing.

Looking forward to playing: more OFF, Mullet Madjack, Baldur’s Gate 3, and It Takes Two.

I have been playing quite a lot this week. Only realising it now while writing this part, as this always allows me to look back on the week and what I’ve been up to.

I have been playing Discounty a lot, which is awesome! A shopkeeping game that is very story-driven, instead of only focusing on the money.

Next up, I played a small clicker game, Click and Conquer, which I enjoyed so much. I love short clicker games that don’t overstay their welcome or bombard you with DLC/microtransactions stuff.

Also played Super Farming Boy, which is a great farming game, where it is all about making combos with your crops. And while I call it a farming game, it is different from your typical farming game, more action-based and hectic.

After that, I played Monster Mop Up. A game I have been hyped for since I learned about it last year. The monsters are so adorable, and cleaning up in games is a lot of fun. I loved my time playing it in single player, but when I hopped into multiplayer, it tainted my experience a bit. The multiplayer is a lot more buggy, and I lost all my coins in the process. I hope to return to this and unlock the last few achievements after a patch that fixes the bugs.

And last but not least. I’m playing the lovely game The Girl from Arkanya. I just started, so I can’t say much more yet, but it looks great!

Most interesting news of this week: OFF doing so well and having already so many Steam reviews! Amazing to see.

Looking forward to playing: More The Girl of Arkanya & Herdling.

This week I’ve been playing Cyber Clutch: Hot Import Nights, a fun arcade racing shooter, battling it out around tracks in a cyberpunk world. You can read my review [HERE]

I’ve also been playing Killing Floor 3, a fast and frantic first-person shooter where you team up with others online to take on zombies and all kinds of monsters, trying to survive until the final wave is complete. Look out for my review coming soon.

I also tried the Battlefield 6 beta, which is really good fun. The level of destruction is incredible. I think this is one I’ll definitely be picking up when it’s out.

Lastly, I played a little Mario Kart World on my new Nintendo Switch 2, which is brilliant. I’ve been working my way through the 50CC Cup and also jumped into some online races, which is mayhem in the best way possible.

Most interesting news of this week: Helldivers 2 Teases Halo 3: ODST Crossover Ahead Of Its Xbox Launch on Xbox Series X|S on August 26.

Looking forward to playing: Killing Floor 3, Death Relives and more Mario Kart World.
