Eyes on the Week (5th-9th May)

It’s time to look back on the week we’ve just had! What did the weekdays look like for our writers? What was the biggest news from the week? and what are we looking forward to playing during the upcoming weekend? Our Eyes on the Week article will answer all three of these questions!

We’re curious about your opinion and played games, so be sure to share your stuff on our social media channels!

As I’m slowly trying to claw my way out of the deep depression and isolation I found myself in, I have finally managed to play video games once again. The first I decided to return to was my tried and tested Dead by Daylight. As per all multiplayer games, there are the good and the bad moments but overall, I’ve had a pretty decent time and it’s been nice to enjoy a favourite of mine once again.

Secondly on my list was Phasmophobia. I really fell out with this game for a while and I can’t even pinpoint why but it’s been nice to play with Lewis again. He is definitely the true ghost hunter – I’m a scaredy cat in comparison!

We also started our first playthrough of Split Fiction with me playing as Zoe and Lewis playing as Mio. It’s been an absolute blast so far and we aren’t even half way through quite yet. It Takes Two is still my favourite but I’ll tell more of my thoughts once we’ve completed the entire game.

I finally delved into Crime Scene Cleaner, which I’ve been eyeing up for some time, but haven’t had the ‘umph’ to play. I’ve done the first 4 crime scenes and I’m slowly getting skill points to build my skill tree. I also refuse to leave a scene until it is 100% perfection.

Most interesting news of this week: Grand Theft Auto VI has been pushed back to May 2026 but at least those who are eagerly waiting for its release now have a date to mark on their calenders!

Looking forward to playing: All of the above plus The Walking Dead: The Final Season.

I didn’t have as much game time this week, mostly played some more Final Fantasy Theathrythm on the Switch, finished up some sidequests on Spiderman on PS5 and Deck of Haunts on PC. My poor Xbox saw almost no action this week.

I tried my hand at Bionic Bay, but ended up getting stuck on a hard challenge about halfway through the game. Admittedly, I was playing at 2AM… will go back later with a less sleep-deprived brain. Here is my first hour of gameplay on YouTube.

I did just go to the Nintendo Switch 2 experience in Amsterdam and will do a write-up soon for LifeIsXbox, with a brief review of Mario Kart World, Donkey Kong Bananza, Metroid Prime 4 and… even Kirby and the Forgotten Land DLC ^^

Most interesting news of this week: Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 sold over 2M copies is well on its way to become GOTY 2025 now that GTA VI got delayed!

Looking forward to playing: The Midnight Walk looks like fun!

This week I started playing Dark Souls Remastered with a friend, we’re taking turns. So far it’s been a good experience, and exactly how I thought it would be.

I’ve also played a little bit of Risk of Rain 2 with another friend in split-screen co-op, and it’s a fun experience.

I started playing Resident Evil 3 Remake last week and it’s been good so far. I’m not a fan of the menus, and I know it’s a short game, so I believe I’ll be done with it soon.

I also started playing Crime Scene Cleaner last week thanks to Xbox Games Pass, and it has been quite an interesting game. It captures the same feeling Viscera Cleanup Detail and Powerwash Simulator do, I guess putting things in order makes you feel accomplished.

Most interesting news of this week: Price increases on Xbox consoles and future games, I’m concerned for what it means for the whole industry.

Looking forward to playing: More Crime Scene Cleaner and Resident Evil 3.

I played Flibbius McDoogle and the Mysterious Flying Machine, a short adventure game that I enjoy a lot. After that, I played Retail Company Simulator. I love that shopkeeping games are a thing now; I love that genre so much!

I finished Traveler’s Refrain when I wrote this. It’s an awesome game that reminds me so much of Zelda: Ocarina of Time and Ocean’s Heart.

I played through Monch!, what a wonderful indie platform adventure game, it is a crazy idea that you eat creatures and gain there abilities but is works and I was addicted!

Also playing atm Revenge of the Savage Planet, what a great game! The world feels so big and so much to find.

Last but not least, I have been playing Mini Motorway throughout the week, but am struggling with the last few maps.

Most interesting news of this week: Biggest news of the week: The announcement that the new GTA game will release in May 2026. I’m glad it is announced so far in the future so developers and publishers can keep that release in mind when planning their own release.

Looking forward to playing: More Mini Motorway and Revenge of the Savage Planet.

I’ve just finished Steel Seed, which I’ve been playing over the past few weeks. My review is available to read [HERE]

Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 is the other game that’s been taking up some of my gaming time. Turn-based combat has never really been my favorite genre, but I’m very impressed with how the game gradually teaches you the mechanics and how everything works. The visuals are stunning, the voice acting is incredible, and the musical score is absolutely breathtaking. The gameplay and story match this high standard. Every aspect just oozes quality, and I can’t wait to play more.

I’ve also played a bit of Apex Legends with friends. A new season featuring a character named Sparrow has just dropped. You can complete objectives to earn rewards using him, which I’m working on. However, you need to use guns I don’t normally use, so it’s quite a challenge – but also fun to experiment with.

Most interesting news of this week: A new trailer for GTA 6 just dropped, nearly breaking the internet with 475 million views in 24 hours.

Looking forward to playing: Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 and Apex Legends.

Diablo 4 started it’s latest season so I have been making my way through that, although they did mess things up somewhat with the Reliquary system and don’t get me started on the cosmetic stuff… At least you don’t have to pay to win like some other games out there but it’s still a bit of a rip off to the consumers. Oh and they also have a wee bonus with the anime Berserk now somehow being part of the Diablo universe.

Other than that I have been playing a few games that will be up for review very very soon.

Most interesting news of this week: Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 is getting nerfed soon, and also the physical copies of Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 have been sold out and apparently resold by scalpers.

Looking forward to playing: More Deck of Haunts, Trash Goblin and a lot more.
