Short Review | Lazy Sweet Tycoon

LifeisXbox’s Lazy Sweet Tycoon review | Idle clicker games, at the moment they rule the app stores on your mobile phone and I’m sure that almost everyone has played one of them. For myself, I’m kind of addicted to them. So this also means that I was very happy and excited to hear that such a game has found its way to Steam and offers crossplay between your phone and PC. I’m talking about Sideless Cube Studios’ Lazy Sweet Tycoon.

This is a short review, our usual the good, mixed and the bad was difficult because of the nature of this game. We played Lazy Sweet Tycoon for 5 hours on PC. This game is also available on mobile phones.

Lazy Sweet Tycoon is a clicker game where it is your goal to click yourself to the number 1 spot in multiplayer contests. At least that is how the developers describe the game. While playing you are upgrading a candy factory to earn as much money as possible. This can be done by upgrading your gear with common, rare, epic, and legendary upgrades. The higher the upgrade level and tier of the upgrades, the more money you will make over time. Aside from this, you can also energize your island by tapping on highlighted objects such as ducks, sheep, cars, trees, and much more. Basically like every clicking game ever. They also added a skill tree that gives you some QOL updates like an Automatic Popper which clicks the objects for you, turning it into an idle game.

What really shines in Lazy Sweet Tycoon are the Minecraft-like graphics. They really brighten up everything, in combination with the relaxing and energizing soundtracks that are playing in the background. Another point that I really liked is the sound effects. They are really simple yet a good addition. For example, when you click on a car it honks and when you click the duck it quacks. This combined with some retro arcade sounds when you are clicking trees etc. is lovely to hear.

A feature that I was really looking forward to was that Lazy Sweet Tycoon offers cross-play between mobile and PC. It took a while before it worked for me because the games weren’t syncing but when it worked it was actually quite nice. Of course, most of the time you are waiting for cash to flow in but when I was at work I was able to upgrade some stuff and then continue through Steam when I got home.

There is only one thing that I couldn’t understand about the game. On mobile, the game is free to play, but when you want to play it through Steam you will have to pay around € 7 in order to play it and you won’t receive any extra benefits or so. The game also works with microtransactions so it would make sense that when you buy it on Steam you get some currency or so for cosmetics but nope, unfortunately not. The free-to-play game on mobile is exactly the same as the paid version on Steam, which made me feel like the developers of Lazy Sweet Tycoon are just out to make a quick buck with the Steam release.

The idea behind Lazy Sweet Tycoon is nice and it works properly. But in my opinion, it doesn’t really stand out from other clicker games. The crossplay function is a nice feature, but to be honest, if you want to play it, try it out on mobile first and if you really really like it and prefer PC gaming, you could always buy it on Steam.
