Review | Overcooked! All You Can Eat

LifeisXbox’s Overcooked! All You Can Eat review | Y’all ready to cook!? You might say yes, but how about with a timer ticking away? And how about cooking with friends? This is Overcooked! All You Can Eat’s review, and that is exactly what this game is about! Overcooked! All You Can Eat is developed by Team17 Digital and Ghost town Games. Now that’s all said n’ done, let’s get cookin’!

We played Overcooked! All You Can Eat for 7 hours. This game is also available on PlayStation 5, and Project Scarlett.

What we liked!

  • Chaos | This game is just one chaotic rollercoaster! It starts off quite easy, but soon you won’t be able to three-star it on your own anymore. Why you might ask? Where is my plate? Ah shit not washed yet, meanwhile you have to let your other dude cut this. Ah, shit my burger is burning, gotta run! Where is the fire-extinguisher?! WHY IS THERE A CRATER IN MY KITCHEN!? hahaha. And if you are playing with a friend you will need to communicate or things will get difficult. But even then it’s chaos. And to be honest, I loved it. It’s a fun kind of chaos. I do want to be clear that I wasn’t joking about it getting difficult. It gets nearly impossible (at least for me) to 3-star levels later on. But if you don’t mind not 3 starring every level and are just playing for the fun of it, or the challenge, it’s absolutely worth it and so much fun.
  • 60 FPS and 4K | Overcooked! All You Can Eat is now in 60fps and 4K! The game looks good and it feels smooth as well. Those extra few fps might help you save that sushi! or the fries! I’m just kidding about that of course, you won’t notice it that much, but it was a smooth experience and I never felt like it could look or feel better. I can’t say much about the 4K aspect of things since my screen doesn’t have 4K but I’m sure it’s a great bonus to the game!
  • Music | The music is so hype I absolutely loved it. It just keeps you bouncing around from thing to thing. It’s really happy and I just sat there listening to it with a smile. Even though there is so much chaos the game looks hella cute, and this sweet music fits that like a glove. I really liked the map music where you pick your level! Isn’t that strange? I don’t know I just like that one a lot.
  • Map | You probably read that and are like: huh? Well, I loved the map. The music first of all is great, like mentioned above. And then you drive this bus around from level to level. The driving feels great and when we were playing together, Xen was racing that car around like in Need For Speed, haha. No, really the map is just really well done, the way it unlocks new levels also looks pretty. I’ve never been so impressed by a level select map.
  • Options | Overcooked! All You Can Eat is a merge of Overcooked 1 and 2. It brings 7 extra levels and 80+ chefs to play with! So in this game, you can pick between Overcooked 1 or 2 whenever you want. You’ll get an achievement quite fast if you are used to Overcooked 2 because as soon as you try to throw something PLOP achievement. Just having the option to go from 1 to 2 without going out of the game is fantastic. Then there are game modes. You can play the story, practice, or survival! I had a blast with survival just trying to get better at one level. It really brings out the perfectionist in everyone. 😉

Somewhere between

  • Controller support | I saw a lot of negative reviews on Steam about this. And I am here to tell you, for me, it wasn’t much of a problem. As long as you connect your controller to your PC before starting the game, there is no problem. I did have trouble when I tried to switch from keyboard to controller, but a simple restart fixed that. I used an Xbox controller, though, and I don’t know about PlayStation or other options since I don’t own any other controller.

CONCLUSION

90%

If you do not own Overcooked! 1 and/or 2, I would absolutely recommend this game, especially if you have friends willing to buy it as well. Or if you have friends that can come over for some co-op cooking! Overcooked! All You Can Eat is best played together, but I can still recommend it if you like a challenge and you want the solo experience. You can get Overcooked! All You Can Eat for a lower price if you already own Overcooked 1 or 2 for a little while, so if you want it to be quick!
