Most Anticipated Games of February 2026

The first month of the year is behind us, and it was kind of a slow start but we didn’t mind. Like a lot of people we made a new year’s resolution to play our backlog and get through some 2025 games. But February is already knocking at the door and there are so many good releases that we almost had to include all of them… but we won’t. Tough as it was, we’ve narrowed it down to six games we’re really excited about, in order of release:

DRAGON QUEST VII Reimagined – February 5

Dragon Quest 7 is a weird title in the series for us western players. We never had the original game on consoles, but back in 2016 we had the “fragments of the forgotten past” remake on 3DS. I don’t recall hearing a lot of fanfare at the time of its release, but we’re sure paying attention now. With Dragon Quest VII Reimagined, we’ve got yet another remake, but with a gorgeous artstyle and coming to all platforms on the same day. Me & Benny have been enjoying it to the fullest and you can read Benny’s review on LifeIsXbox very soon!

Yakuza Kiwami 3 & Dark Ties – February 11

We’ve got a lot of Yakuza fans in the LifeIsXbox crew, so whenever one of them releases, you can probably expect it to be in our most anticipated lists. Yakuza Kiwami 3 is a complete remake of the 2009 PS3 title, focusing on Kazuma Kiryu protecting the Morning Glory orphanage in Okinawa and Dark Ties documents Mine’s journey from a venture capitalist to a high-ranking yakuza, filling the void in his heart.

ROMEO IS A DEAD MAN – February 12

We’re going to be honest here: we don’t know much about Romeo Is a Dead Man, but it’s oozing style and the gameplay looks amazing. Going in blind might not be the worst idea here, and just letting the game surprise you with every twist and turn.

Mario Tennis Fever – February 12

Mario Tennis is among Nintendo’s best sports adaptations and with Mario Tennis Fever, it’ll use the Nintendo Switch 2’s power to the fullest. Expect bright colourful visuals and a new fever gameplay element that lets you use elemental attacks. Secretly this Golden Sun lover would really wish Camelot focuses on a new JRPG instead of the Mario Tennis series, but at least they tend to insert some RPG elements into the campaign of the game.

REANIMAL – February 13

The real Little Nighmares sequel is here, with the developers of the first two games starting a new studio and working on REANIMAL, which looks, plays and sounds like you’d expect from the team. We’re very excited about this horror adventure and hope it performs better than Little Nightmares 3, which fell kind of flat upon release.

Resident Evil Requiem – February 27

This is the game we’re collectively the most excited for, and it arrives just before the end of the month. Resident Evil Requiem will offer us the scary fragile protagonist game intermixed with Leon’s overpowered roundhouse kick and biceps that can punch a rock into smithereens. The ninth entry in the Resident Evil series looks like it’ll deliver on all fronts: stunning graphics, spooky audio and solid gameplay. The wait is too long!!!
