Eyes on the Week(end) (29 April-1 May)

Time to look back on the weekend! What did Friday, Saturday, and Sunday look like for our writers? What was the biggest news from last week and what are we looking forward to? These three questions will be answered in our Eyes on the Week(end) article!

We’re curious about your opinion and played games, so be sure to share your stuff on our social media channels!

A mixture of horror, telltale, and achievement hunting occupied my weekend. Had a browse through the Microsoft Un-Halloween sale and started Home Sweet Home as it’s a game I’ve wanted to play for sometime. It has certainly had it’s immersion and frightful moments so can’t complain. I have also started The Walking Dead: The Definitive Edition as I wanted to experience the story again and I’m nearing the end of the first season. Finally, Lewis finished off the questionably irritating game Captain Cat for me to get that completion off my backlog.

Most exciting news of last week: Mays new goals on TrueAchievements have been unveiled and can now be worked towards which gives me another focus.

Looking forward to playing: Another mixture of games to come this week so I can’t say for certain what will be played. I’m hoping to get my Oculus Quest 2 set up and ready to use!

I played A LOT of Roguebook with my available free time. This Belgian-made deckbuilding roguelike really checks all the right boxes for me and is super addictive and fun. Every failed or successful run is immediately followed up by another because it’s so hard to put down. Definitely check this out if you haven’t yet. I also beat Elden Ring last week and went back to clean up some missing boss-fights/achievements this weekend but I think I’m about ready to leave the game behind me now. Definitely GOTY material! Lastly, I also played some Century: Age of Ashes for some achievements. Really fun multiplayer game, but it’s already getting a bit repetitive after ~5 hours.

Most exciting news of last week: the Xbox + Bethesda showcase announcement.

Looking forward to playing: Going to continue with Control this week, unless a review copy for The Stanley Parable arrives in my inbox, in which case that will get all my attention.

Been playing a lot of Dead by Daylight again. Currently trying to get some more achievements and I’m also trying to complete the new Tome! Also met some new friends on the game yesterday, and I’m having a blast playing with them!

Most exciting news of last week: It’s finally confirmed that there is a gay character in Dead by Daylight; David King (it’s time to main him, haha). I’m also glad that the Activision Blizzard acquisition has been approved by shareholders!

Looking forward to playing: Some more Dead by Daylight, obviously. I’m also going to be playing the 2nd season of Halo Infinite! And besides that, I still have plenty of games I need to review.

This weekend I played a little bit of a few games, didn’t get to play them extensively though. The first one was the Turbo Golf Racing beta on Xbox, it’s pretty fun and it seems like it can be a good adversary for Rocket League but it’s also pretty tricky, at least for my skill level. Also played a little bit of my next review game The Sorrowvirus: A Short Story. From the little I’ve played of it, I found it to be pretty interesting and mysterious, didn’t play it much though, so I’ll get into more details in my review after I finish it. Finally, I tried the Lost Eidolons 2nd beta which does have some cool cutscenes and a somewhat interesting gameplay, but the regular dialogues weren’t great, I think some changes must happen as soon as possible to make it as interesting as it can be.

Most exciting news of last week: The Xbox + Bethesda showcase being announced, can’t wait to see what they’ll show.

Looking forward to playing: I’ll play more Sorrowvirus and probably start Mafia II Definitive Edition, since I finished Mafia Definitive Edition last week.
