It’s time to look back on the week we’ve just had! What did the weekdays look like for our writers? What was the biggest news from the week? And what are we looking forward to playing during the upcoming weekend? Our Eyes on the Week article will answer all three of these questions! We’re curious about your opinion and played games, so be sure to share your stuff on our social media channels!

Another week, another eventful series of games on Overwatch. There isn’t much to be said: the same annoying teammates with the same old defence after defence. It’s getting a little stale, but I’ll keep pushing through because I can’t take myself away from the torment. On a positive note, I finally got the Winter Pyjama skin for Illari in Maxamillians Vault, which I’ve been dying to get for some time.
The main star of the show this week has to be me, finally getting around to playing Librarian: Tidy Up the Arcane Library. I was a little sceptical regarding how it would play on the Steam Deck, but it worked like a charm. I’ve played it every day this week, got all the achievements (including using no major magic and completing the library in under 3 hours), and still find myself starting a fresh save to try and beat my previous time. I can’t pull myself away, and time flies by when I’m playing it. I couldn’t recommend this anymore if I tried, especially if you enjoy organisation and achieving complete perfection.
As it came to Xbox Game Pass on Tuesday, Lewis and I have been playing RV There Yet?, and my oh my, has it been an incredibly bumpy journey, to say the least.
Most interesting news of the week: The idea of physical media becoming a thing of the past is a horrible thought. Although I’ve had an Xbox Series S for some time now, which is all digital, it still hurts to think about discs and cases being cast out. All those lovely steelbooks…
Looking forward to playing: More Overwatch, RV There Yet?, and something new.

Netflix actually got an interesting game release with Unhinged, a short horror title in which you use your IRL phone as the flashlight, and you even receive (fake) calls on it. It’s a very interesting concept, and I’m curious to see it explored further. You can read my review [HERE]
I also played a bit of Rhythm Heaven Groove already and quite like it, especially the multiplayer minigames I can play with my family. More on that later!
Most interesting news of the week: PlayStation just killed physical media. Great. Hate it.
Looking forward to playing: More Rhythm Heaven Groove.

This week, I’ve spent my time playing through Flesh Made Fear & Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced for review. While that may not sound like a lot, I’ve been heavily invested in Black Flag to make sure I bring you the most detailed review I can. Whilst I can’t say anything right now, just know it is gorgeous. It is the best looking Assassin’s Creed game to date, & plays extremely well.
Flesh Made Fear, though, was an absolute joy to play, & while on the surface it looks like it has some issues, a lot of these are easily written off as aesthetic choices to really capture that 80’s horror cheese. Purposely poor acting is the highlight for me. It’s been nice though to sink my teeth into a retro survival horror that is done well, & also includes all of the hallmarks we have come to expect like fixed camera angles, boss battles, & killer music.
The full review will be out next week, just before the Black Flag review, so for my final thoughts, make sure to check back for that.
Most interesting news of the week: Sony being stupid & deciding to end physical disc releases from January 2028. I’m hoping they get enough flak that they backtrack, because this is only field by greed, so they make more money from the digital sales. Anti-consumer practices at their finest.
Looking forward to playing: More Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced.

I finished playing through Asura’s Wrath, which was quite a badass game to play. I tried playing the first Lost Episode DLC, but I couldn’t handle the button mashing required at the end, so I ended up giving up on it after a few tries.
I played a bit of the usual Marvel Rivals and Minecraft Dungeons with friends again, but not too much, as I haven’t had as much free time as I usually do. I also played some Meccha Chameleon with friends, as they gifted me it, kind of forcing me to play with them, and it was quite a fun time. It was very reminiscent of Gary’s Mod, but also had the flavour of painting and posing added to it.
I also played more Abyssus and Halls of Torment as my gamepass games of choice, both are still incredibly fun games to play, and I want to keep playing them from time to time.
Last, but not least, I started replaying Batman: Arkham Asylum for at least the 4th time in my life, as part of my Bat-marathon. I’ve watched every Batman movie, except for the 1966 one, after playing and reviewing LEGO Batman Legacy of the Dark Knight, and I intend on replaying the Arkham games and likely the older LEGO ones as well.
Most interesting news of the week: PlayStation announcing they won’t be releasing physical games anymore, which I seriously hope they backtrack on.
Looking forward to playing: More Batman Arkham Asylum, Abyssus, possibly Marvel Rivals and Meccha Chameleon as well.

This week I’ve been playing The Adventures of Elliot: The Millennium Tales. I had a great time with it and was honestly a bit sad when it ended after unlocking all three endings. It’s one of the most memorable games I’ve played this year, with a brilliant mix of story, gameplay, and charm throughout. It’s also left me curious about the Octopath Traveller series, thanks to its striking HD-2D art style. You can read my full review [HERE]
I’ve also been putting more time into Mario Kart World, steadily climbing the online Knockout Tour rankings while improving my consistency across races. The higher I climb, the more competitive it gets, and I’m often not even making it into the final eight racers. Even so, it’s still just as fun and a great way to pass some spare time. I’ve added two more wins to my record along the way, which makes the progress feel like it’s starting to pay off. I just hope Nintendo adds some new DLC soon, maybe a few more areas or tracks to keep things feeling fresh.
Most interesting news of the week: My News of the Week is a little different this time around. Rather than covering the week’s headlines, I wanted to dedicate it to my hands-on preview of Revelations, the upcoming DLC expansion for DOOM: The Dark Ages. I was invited to a preview event and can finally share what I saw.
The DLC offers roughly 10–12 hours of content, depending on difficulty and player skill and is divided into two distinct parts: a substantial story campaign followed by an endgame experience. Across six new levels, players will encounter a wide variety of new enemy types, discover additional hidden collectables and face a challenge that is noticeably higher than in the base game. As a result, mastering its core mechanics is increasingly important, particularly during several demanding boss encounters. Completing the story campaign unlocks replay opportunities and additional content, with further challenges and rewards becoming available as you progress.
At the heart of the expansion is the new Chain Spear, which initially replaces the shield before later allowing players to switch freely between the two. The fully upgradeable weapon features deep mechanics, advanced techniques and a strong emphasis on timing and precision. Learning its moveset is key to overcoming the DLC’s toughest encounters, and effective use of the spear becomes essential by the endgame. Firearms remain largely unchanged, though players can also unlock and upgrade a new suit, adding another layer of progression.
Overall, Revelations looks set to deliver a substantial challenge for veteran players, with its new Chain Spear, tougher encounters, and endgame content adding meaningful depth to the experience. It launches on July 7.
Looking forward to playing: Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced and Unhinged.

Hello, I’m Victoria. I’m from the UK and have been playing video games for as long as I can remember; back on DreamCast. I’ve pretty much fallen for Xbox since I was around eight years old and remember BioShock being my first game on the Xbox360. Although I find it thoroughly enjoyable to not only experience gameplay, I also find comfort in getting lost and engrossed in the online worlds that sometimes differ greatly from what we know. Another side of my Xbox passion would be achievement hunting and gamerscore. I thrive when I hear the little sound of one popping up on the screen and I’m always finding ways to work on my backlog when possible. Horror is my favourite genre so if you have any recommendations, don’t be afraid to send them my way!
