Eyes on the Week (5th-9th September)

Time to look back on the week we’ve just had! What did the weekdays look like for our writers? What was the biggest news from the week? and what are we looking forward to playing during the upcoming weekend? Our Eyes on the Week article will answer all three of these questions!

We’re curious about your opinion and played games, so be sure to share your stuff on our social media channels!

My Monday started off with a new adventure in the form of Tinykin, a new addition to Xbox Games Pass that I’ve had the incredible pleasure to play. Tinykin certainly has a unique charm and appeal that many will appreciate. Look out for our review coming this Monday. I also managed to finish all the collectibles I needed in Outlast and the Whistleblower DLC to complete the entire game with the help of my partner. After seeing people playing Microsoft Minesweeper, I instantly had to give this a go as it was always one of my favourite classic games to play on PC when I was younger. Adventure mode is interesting but I still prefer the original concept and appearance. Finally, to keep my achievement streak going, I have been slowly completing Whiskey Mafia: Leo’s Family. I’ve also made a CrunchyRoll account to explore anime further and also rewatch classics from my childhood such as Yu-Gi-Oh! and DragonBall Z.

Most exciting news of this week: Not exciting news from this week but rather incredibly sad to hear of our Queen, Queen Elizabeth II, passing away this week. My thoughts are with the family during this awful time and I share my sincere condolences to the Royal Family.

Looking forward to playing: Tinykin, Whiskey Mafia: Leo’s Family, JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: All Star Battle, and Justice Sucks: Tactical Vacuum Action.

I’ve tried playing A Western Drama, a game with only audio. But couldn’t get very far and ended up quitting in frustration. Then I beat Virginia in a single sitting to put my mind at rest and kind of liked it. But most of my time was spent in Saints Row. Which is buggy, and full of flaws, but damn if it isn’t fun! + to support our local game devs, I bought and beat Please, Touch The Artwork on Nintendo Switch. A multi-award-winning game you should all try once

Most exciting news of this week: Please Touch the Artwork won the Google Play award!

Looking forward to playing: You Suck at Parking and Metal: Hellsinger, both releasing on Game Pass soon.

This week I have managed to squeeze in some Cult of The Lamb. I had no idea how addictive the game would be and spent far too long farming, raising my cult and exploring the wilderness surrounding my base.

The gameplay loop is perfect and despite on the surface being a small game, there is so much content that it offers that you barely realise this is a rogue-like dungeon crawler. The emphasis here really should be raising your people as this allows them to generate devotion which in turn then allows for better upgrades to you, your faith and your base. With approximately 8 hours on the clock, I’ve only finished 2 dungeons since I am too busy preaching in my church and setting doctrines for my lovely followers.

Most exciting news of this week: The TGS lineup that’s been confirmed by multiple studios. Looks like we are going to have one hell of a show.

Looking forward to playing: Lego Brawls & Splatoon 3.

I started playing Catmaze for an upcoming review and played a little bit of Dead by Daylight and GTA IV. I also rewatched more episodes from Breaking Bad, currently in season 3.

Most exciting news of this week: Nothing comes to mind.

Looking forward to playing: Catmaze, and 2 other review games, and if I can I’ll play GTA IV and Dead by Daylight.

I spent my week sinking further into the quicksand that is Final Fantasy XIV, now on the full game. I’ve broken my long-standing principle of not playing games with a subscription model if they have an upfront cost attached to them. The 470 or so hours I’ve spent on the free trial over the last couple of months more than drew me in. At the time of writing, I’ve gotten past the Ruby Sea zone and have well and truly embarked on the story of the Stormblood expansion. I’ve also joined a Free Company (guild) and am enjoying the gil from trading goods on the marketplace.

Most exciting news of this week: Pokémon posted another trailer with more footage, pokémon and characters. It’s got me all excited again for Pokémon Scarlet and Violet.

Looking forward to playing: More Final Fantasy XIV and Train Sim World 3 for an upcoming review.
