Eyes on the Week (2nd – 6th January)

Time to look back on the week we’ve just had! What did the weekdays look like for our writers? What was the biggest news from the week? and what are we looking forward to playing during the upcoming weekend? Our Eyes on the Week article will answer all three of these questions!

We’re curious about your opinion and played games, so be sure to share your stuff on our social media channels!

I’m incredibly excited for 2023; already feeling great about the year. I’ve started with quite the variety of video games this week. Starting off the week, I took the venture into Dear Esther: Landmark Edition which is essentially a walking simulator with immerseful narration that allows you to make your own decisions and opinions without feeling rushed. Secondly, I started my next review game, Bravery and Greed. Although I’ve only played through the first two areas, I can feel myself getting gripped into the gameplay so I’m excited to return and complete this! Next, I restarted a game I had already started called Endless Fables: Dark Moor as I couldn’t quite remember where I was nor the story. I enjoy the point-and-click titles every now and again and this one was no different. One game I really wanted to go back to and get the 100% completion for was New Tales from the Borderlands. Now I only need to get the neutral ending but it seems to be the most complicated to get so I hope to work towards this over the weekend. Crypt of the Serpent King Remastered was my somewhat ‘easy’ game for the week; completed within two hours but I enjoyed the minimalistic gameplay. Finally, as per usual, me and Lewis jumped on Dead by Daylight to finish the Christmas tome and did it in one evening. Obviously, I still hate being tunneled and camped but what can you do?

Most exciting news of this week: Honestly, nothing has caught my attention this week.

Looking forward to playing: More Bravery and Greed, New Tales from the Borderlands, and perhaps Persona 5. I’m really looking to work through my backlog though when possible.

The first week of 2023 is already over, 51 to go! Few games got attention this week – A Plague Tale: Requiem, Saints Row, and Resident Evil 2. That last one really looks incredible! Slowly but surely things are going back to normal again, PRs and publishers are back to work and that means… new games to review!

Most exciting news of this week: Poncle teasing a new videogame, considering Vampire survivors was such a fun experience I’m really looking forward to his new project.

Looking forward to playing: Finishing A Plague Tale: Requiem and Resident Evil 2.

Life goes fast huh, can’t believe we’re already one week into the new year. I’ve been spending time with Crisis Core and was very proud to have beaten Minerva this week, the game’s toughest boss. I also started playing Disc Room, mostly because it was part of a MS Rewards offering for extra points, but I was pleasantly surprised with how the game is built and how it lets you make it as easy or difficult as you want it. Playing a few rooms every day for my daily Xbox Achievement now. And Lastly, I started playing a nice RPG I can’t really say much about yet, but you’ll hear more soon enough.

Most exciting news of this week: PlayStation is also making a controller for accessibility. Glad to see them investing in this as I know how important the Xbox controller has been for people with a disability.

Looking forward to playing: More of that secret RPG I can’t talk about yet.

I’ve been mostly playing Persona 5 Royal this week, I have more than 50 hours of playtime in it 😅
I played a tiny bit of Black Desert for a challenge in my weekly challenges (for Microsoft Rewards points). I also played a tiny bit of Dead by Daylight again.

Most exciting news of this week: I know we don’t cover their games, but a Playstation’s accessibility com being developed is good news.

Looking forward to playing: More Persona 5 Royal and some more Dead by Daylight.

One more week until the pot is off and I return to normality (hopefully). However I have been playing a game called Chained Echoes which I’ve really been enjoying.

Most exciting news of this week: The ongoing war between Xbox and PS and the block of the buy out of Activision Blizzard rages on, I think this is a story that will continue to rumble on as the year goes by.

Looking forward to playing: I am looking forward to playing and reviewing the game I should have completed before my accident. Also Persona 5 Royal Edition is very high on my game pass to play list.
