Eyes on the Week (27th-31st October)

It’s time to look back on the week we’ve just had! What did the weekdays look like for our writers? What was the biggest news from the week? and what are we looking forward to playing during the upcoming weekend? Our Eyes on the Week article will answer all three of these questions!

We’re curious about your opinion and played games, so be sure to share your stuff on our social media channels!

This week has been primarily dedicated to Borderlands 4 and finishing the main story. After that, Lewis and I will then be moving on to completing the side missions, getting all the collectables, and starting our Ultimate Vault Hunter experience. I’ll write my review soon, and you’ll be able to see exactly what I thought of the game as a whole.

As for horror for the week of Halloween, I played The Cabin Factory and had a decent time with it. You can read my Tidbit review [HERE]

Overwatch 2 was in the rotation this week, but not as much as usual, as the games have just felt too sweaty for Quick Play when all you want is a fun, casual game. It’s a shame because I really enjoy the game…

Most interesting news of this week: Will we finally be seeing the Silent Hill 2 Remake on Xbox? Only time will tell.

Looking forward to playing: Borderlands 4, and maybe getting around to Spirittea before it leaves Xbox Games Pass.

I completed Fading Serenades on Steam Deck, and it was the perfect cosy game for the handheld. You basically just walk around a small island delivering packages, but I loved the experience ^^ You can read Derek’s review HERE

I finally cracked and decided to play Thank Goodness You’re Here. I was hoping it would come to Xbox too, but it’s been a year now with no news, and it already landed on Switch & PS5… Sad! Still, had a good laugh with the Steam version on my new Steam Deck.

I also downloaded a demo for Dead As Disco, and this game will be my entire identity when it releases. Even in the demo, I could already play for hours by just checking my own uploaded music to see how well it matches the rhythm brawler gameplay. It’s basically Batman: Arkham Asylum’s gameplay, but with rhythm-based inputs. It’s glorious!!!

Also continuing on Pokémon Legends Z-A on the Switch, which is surprisingly fun, despite the very dated looks. But the loop of catching and versus gameplay works very well, and the pace is amazing. Never a dull moment.

On Xbox, I’m still inching towards the end of Final Fantasy Tactics. I’m taking my sweet time, maxing all my jobs and replaying random missions to level my jobs and characters.

Most interesting news of this week: I’m still super happy with the new Steam Deck, and it’s like PC gaming has finally opened up to me. Before this, I was always gaming on my work device, and that usually ended in me working instead of gaming.

Looking forward to playing: Dragon Quest 1+2 is amazing, I’ve heard. So now I want to dive in as well!

I’ve played some more BALL x PIT, and it’s still quite fun, challenging and requires a bit of grinding to progress, nothing too tedious though.

I’ve started playing Conscript, which is basically a survival horror World War I game, the horror being the war itself, low resources, and rats. The tone reminds me a lot of Darkwood, despite there not being grotesque creatures like it.

I’m also playing Unravel Two with my girlfriend, and it seems like a cool co-op platformer so far, with some neat ideas.

I’m also playing [REDACTED] as a review game. I’ve never played the originals, but the game is intriguing and looks pretty good.

Most interesting news of this week: Once Upon a Katamari release, it seems quite fun and full of content.

Looking forward to playing: More BALL x PIT, [REDACTED], another review game, and if I have the time for Conscript, I’ll be jumping back into it.

Benny

This week, I started playing Silly Polly Beast, a story-driven 3D survival horror shooter developed by Andrei Chernyshov. It’s got some intense gunfights and terrifying monsters straight out of hell. You can read my review [HERE]

Battlefield 6 is also on my playlist this week. I played a few rounds of Conquest with my little brother, it was fun before, but after turning off cross-play, it’s been so much better. I’m actually doing way better now. too. Hopefully, they add an option to cross-play with PS5 players only at some point.

I also jumped into The Outer Worlds 2, and it really surprised me in a good way. It looks amazing, plays great, and has that same quirky charm the first game had. I’ve just landed on Paradise Island, so I’m looking forward to exploring more and seeing where the story goes next.

Most interesting news of this week: The Outer Worlds 2 launched this week, bringing Obsidian’s signature sci-fi humour and deep RPG choices to a new galaxy. The sequel offers fresh characters, a bigger world, and sharper writing, and it’s available day one on Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, so subscribers can jump in right away.

Looking forward to playing: Arc Raiders and The Outer Worlds 2.
