It’s time to look back on the week we’ve just had! What did the weekdays look like for our writers? What was the biggest news from the week? And what are we looking forward to playing during the upcoming weekend? Our Eyes on the Week article will answer all three of these questions! We’re curious about your opinion and played games, so be sure to share your stuff on our social media channels!

This week has been a little different for me. I’ve spent the last two weeks sorting out my room, trying to get rid of unwanted clutter, either by selling it or giving a bunch of stuff to the charity shop. It’s been a breath of fresh air, and I’m incredibly proud of myself for finally having the energy and motivation to make significant progress. I have still managed to get in some gaming, though! Overwatch was pretty good throughout the week, with the exception of Friday’s games. Another Junkrat Loot Hunt is currently active, so that is my main reason for playing. Starting to play my original main, Moira, more frequently as I find it easier to deal with dive heroes.
As for Aniimo, due to my mind being so focused on real-life organisation, I’ve only really been on to get my daily activities done and catch my first Prismatic Sparkling Aniimo, Glynsera! It’s felt a little overwhelming, to be honest, and it’s just poor timing on my part that I’ve started a large game like Aniimo while my mind is occupied elsewhere.
After being pointed to this by Benny, I thought I’d give it a go, as it’s a game I’m interested in, and it’s releasing next month. I tried out the Dynasty Warriors 3 Remastered Demo, and since it only includes one stage, I got a feel for it and was most impressed by the graphics. The gameplay was exactly how I remembered, too. I would have loved a remaster of Dynasty Warriors 2 instead.
On Friday evening, Lewis and I decided to embark on the second game in the ‘We Were Here’ series: We Were Here Too. We completed the first two or three puzzle rooms, but I started to get a headache with the next puzzle, so we’ll be continuing that on Saturday and into next week.
Most interesting news of the week: Rockstar is releasing a Collector’s Box for GTA VI for $400, but it doesn’t include the game itself. Ridiculously expensive considering what’s on offer!
Looking forward to playing: Overwatch, Aniimo, and We Were Here.

I got a code to Fire Emblem Fortune’s Weave last week and can already tell I’ll sink over a hundred hours into it. There is just so much to see and do. I’m about 10 hours deep into it and constantly want to go back and play more, so that’s a great sign. They added dungeon exploration, which makes the game feel more dynamic too.
I also started playing Control Resonant for review, but I’m only five hours in. The story, setting and visual design are all excellent and brings me right back to why I liked the first Control so much. The combat on the other hand is a little bland; I can see myself going for the accessibility features where I can just one-shot most enemies (and then turn it off for boss fights)/ perhaps that way I’ll blaze through it a little quicker too.
But I didn’t get to game a lot recently because…
Most interesting news of the week: I got a dog! His name is Max; he’s 3 years old and super cute. We adopted him on Wednesday, and he already feels like part of the family.
Looking forward to playing: More Control Resonant and Fire Emblem Fortunes Weave.

This week I’ve been helping my mother-in-law move house and also decorating for her, but I have managed to find some time to play Escape From Tarkov with James.
I’ve also make decent progress in Wolverine by Insomniac Games. Despite a lot of the negative stuff online, Wolverine is a very fun game with lots of interesting mechanics & characters that bring the world to life. It has a very detailed options menu as well, which I’ve never seen on a console game before, which was very nice to see.I’m a big Marvel fan, so I had to jump in & tear people apart, and for the most part, it’s been great, & definitely doesn’t deserve the misinformation that is being spread online. Bosses are fun, enemies are tough, & although the writing could use a lot of work, I would still recommend it overall.
Other than this, I’m also playing through Suicide Squad with another friend, & again, not bad! I think a lot of the issues that plagued it at launch are now fixed but the big thing is that it can now be played offline & solo if you want to. Which is fantastic!
Most interesting news of the week: Physint now moving forward with XBOX!
Looking forward to playing: More Wolverine.

I’m still playing Like a Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name, and it has been pretty good, despite having some side content that’s clearly “filler” content and some forced side content to progress in the main story, though it’s not a big deal, and it’s still quite fun and simple.
Moonlighter 2 is once again my gamepass game of choice, and I’ve been pretty addicted to it, with more than 15 hours of gameplay and 2 defeated bosses already. Selling increasingly rare and more expensive relics feels great.
I’ve also played the usual Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League and Warhammer 40k: Darktide with friends, and we’re not far off finishing the former one.
Most interesting news of the week: Ninja Theory potentially closing down as they’ve failed to find a buyer for it.
Looking forward to playing: More Like a Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name, Moonlighter 2, Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, and Warhammer 40k: Darktide.

This week, I started playing Dune: Awakening, which has just arrived on consoles after launching on Steam back in June. To coincide with the console release, a new single-player mode has been added, which I’ll be playing through first. Dune: Awakening is an open-world survival RPG set in the Dune universe. I’ve created my own character, completed the introduction and have now ventured into the starting region, gathering resources and beginning to explore everything Arrakis has to offer. There’s a lot to take in early on, but I’m already having a great time with it. I’ve even been chased by a huge sandworm already, which was pretty intense! There’s clearly plenty more to discover, and I’ll be taking a deeper look at Dune: Awakening in my upcoming review once I’ve had more time with it.
On the Switch 2 I’ve been playing Granblue Fantasy: Relink – Endless Ragnarok, mostly in handheld mode. I’m still fairly early in the game, but so far the story follows a young Captain and their crew of skyfarers as they journey through the skies towards a legendary island. I’ve reached the point where the main story is starting to set itself up, so I’m looking forward to seeing where it goes. The combat is fast-paced and really enjoyable, with each character having their own abilities and playstyle. I’ve also been really impressed with the bosses I’ve faced so far. They’re big, challenging and fun to fight. Visually, I love the cel-shaded, stylised 3D art style, with its anime-inspired character designs, great environments and impressive effects. It’s especially impressive seeing all of that running so well on the Switch 2. So far, I’m having a lot of fun with it.
Most interesting news of the week: Hellblade developer Ninja Theory faces potential closure amid new wave of Xbox cuts following the collapse of two separate agreements.
Looking forward to playing: Dune: Awakening and Granblue Fantasy: Relink – Endless Ragnarok.

Hello, I’m Victoria. I’m from the UK and have been playing video games for as long as I can remember; back on DreamCast. I’ve pretty much fallen for Xbox since I was around eight years old and remember BioShock being my first game on the Xbox360. Although I find it thoroughly enjoyable to not only experience gameplay, I also find comfort in getting lost and engrossed in the online worlds that sometimes differ greatly from what we know. Another side of my Xbox passion would be achievement hunting and gamerscore. I thrive when I hear the little sound of one popping up on the screen and I’m always finding ways to work on my backlog when possible. Horror is my favourite genre so if you have any recommendations, don’t be afraid to send them my way!
