Eyes on the Week (20th – 24th March)

Time to look back on the week we’ve just had! What did the weekdays look like for our writers? What was the biggest news from the week? and what are we looking forward to playing during the upcoming weekend? Our Eyes on the Week article will answer all three of these questions!

We’re curious about your opinion and played games, so be sure to share your stuff on our social media channels!

Another week of gaming variety for me. I started off by finishing my final playthrough of A Space for the Unbound. I went back to get any achievements I was missing from the story but I still have one to get. It involves hitting buttons in quick succession which I can’t seem to achieve right now so I will just have to keep trying in order to get the full completion. These achievements also helped me work towards my last remaining medal for TrueAchievements this month but I needed a couple more so I also installed SSX (2012) to get the remaining achievements. Damn, I really need to return to SSX and work towards what I have left. The nostalgic value too… Sigh…

Another adventure I continued was that of Chained Echoes. I’m going to continue chipping through the story as I’m incredibly curious as to how it’s going to develop. Moonlighter was high on my list this week as not only did I publish my review for it this week but I’m thoroughly enjoying the gameplay. I just don’t want to put my controller down or stop playing because it’s so addictive. My review can be read [HERE] if you’re interested.

Two completions today too to round out the week – One Word by POWGI and Vampire: The Masquerade – Shadows of New York. Nothing much to say about either game as they weren’t exactly memorable. Now I’ll probably be lost to Diablo IV for the entire weekend to work on my Sorcerer more and perhaps try out either the Druid or Necromancer classes.

Most exciting news of this week: Diablo IV Open Beta this weekend! I highly recommend you try it out for yourself; you won’t be disappointed. Also, the release of the Resident Evil 4 Remake.

Looking forward to playing: Diablo IV, Moonlighter, Green Hell, and Chained Echoes.

Finally reached Lu Bu in Wo Long and I can see why so many people get stuck on this fight. Doesn’t help that I had to send back the BenQ TH575 projector either, as I really needed the low latency to be able to deflect. Might need to go back downstairs to play this one. My kids finished Peppa Pig World Adventures this week and we have our review up, so be sure to check that out [HERE].

Speaking of reviews, started two new games this week: Figment 2: Creed Valley, a long-awaited sequel to an indie favourite of mine (check some gameplay here) and Resident Evil 4 Remake, which looks to be a perfectly executed spruced-up version and I can’t wait to relive my memories. Just gotta stay away from those chainsaws

Most exciting news of this week: Diablo 4’s playtest seems to have everyone shouting from the rooftops how good it is, might need to put that on my radar.

Looking forward to playing: Figment 2 & Resident Evil 4 Remake.

Haven’t been able to play much this week, but obviously, I had to stay up and download the Resident Evil 4 Remake last night. I’ve only managed to scratch the surface and finish the first chapter, but I had such a blast with it already. The graphics are superb, and the controls feel great with a tighter emphasis on the gunplay being realistic in their handling. Leon has a sway to him that makes firing off repeated shots hard, and they have really fine-tuned the anxiety that goes into each fight. Being chased by a horde of Ganados really does put a spring in your step and make you think about how to approach each situation. It’s been great reliving 2005 when I got my copy for the Gamecube. I can’t wait for this weekend when I will have some free time to explore more and really soak in the amazing atmosphere they have built for this game.

Most exciting news of this week: Seeing and then trying out the new beta engine of Unreal Engine 5.2. This tech is wild, and I am really looking forward to getting my hands on it fully.

Looking forward to playing: RESIDENT EVIL 4 REMAKE!

I’ve only played Ni No Kuni Wrath of the White Witch Remastered this week, still far from finishing it, but I have just unlocked fast travel which helps quite a bit.

Most exciting news of this week: Counter Strike 2 being officially revealed and even with a beta already ongoing.

Looking forward to playing: More Ni No Kuni Wrath of the White Witch Remastered.

Thomas

As another week has come and gone and with it, I have amassed a good amount of game time. I was out cat-sitting between last week on Wednesday until now Monday, meaning I had ample time and only one furball’s worth of distraction. Not having my home setup, however, meant I couldn’t scratch the Elite Dangerous Odyssey itch. A pity, but I put my time to good use in Final Fantasy XIV (this should no longer be a surprise) by grinding out quests and items needed to make a relic weapon.

This time around I made the Shadowbringers relic for my summoner class. This tome called the Blade’s Acumen seems quite unassuming when closed but when opened lights up with an aetherial glow in various places, as well as displaying holographic runes I can only assume make me cast harder. Aside from the one-time quests I had a good deal of fun making it while liberating the Bozjan people.

But I didn’t only play FFXIV. Thanks to Robby I also got started on Bayonetta Origins: Cereza and the Lost Demon. I think I’m currently about a third of the way into the story and WOW! The picture book-esque aesthetic and Cereza have charmed me almost as much as her fully grown self has Luka. I hope you’ll look forward to my full review of it in the future.

Most exciting news of this week: I heard the Diablo 4 playtest has gone well, which I’m delighted to hear.

Looking forward to playing: I hope to finish Bayonetta Origins: Cereza and the Lost Demon over the next week, but won’t rush it. I’m enjoying myself and want to give the story time to breathe. Speaking of giving stories time to breathe. I think I’ll make the last push for Final Fantasy XIV Endwalker’s story to be over.

Stu

his week I have been achievement-hunting by playing a bit of Disney Dreamlight Valley and a bit of Fall Guys but I have started a playthings of Ni No Kuni 2: Reverent Kingdom and most likely will be playing that for the next few weeks to completion.

Most exciting news of this week: Not much news this week has taken the eye other than Diablo 4 which has drawn the eye for Several Weeks.

Looking forward to playing: As I have mentioned Ni No Kuni will be drawing most of my attention but I have also downloaded Stranded Deep and NORCO so will give these games a try eventually.
