Eyes on the Week (19th-23rd May)

It’s time to look back on the week we’ve just had! What did the weekdays look like for our writers? What was the biggest news from the week? and what are we looking forward to playing during the upcoming weekend? Our Eyes on the Week article will answer all three of these questions!

We’re curious about your opinion and played games, so be sure to share your stuff on our social media channels!

Dead by Daylight has been my go-to game yet again while there isn’t much else grabbing my attention. I’ve been debating playing some killer games to work on the achievements I’m missing but I can’t bring myself to as I know I will get triggered by the toxic survivors I always seem to encounter. Instead, I’m just working through the Rift challenges and older tomes, trying out different perks and builds. I’m getting all the killers to Prestige 3 so they all have their perks at Tier 3 for when I do decide to go for their adept achievements.

Me and Lewis have finished the story and obtained all the achievements in Split Fiction. It was a brilliant game; I still can’t get over how well-designed and fluent the gameplay was throughout. My only negative point was that it was a little on the shorter side. We’ll have to go back to It Takes Two for me to decide which I think is my preferred game but needless to say, both games are outstanding and should be must-plays for everyone.

Most interesting news of this week: Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II is getting a free enhanced update for both Xbox and PC and is a brand-new release coming to PlayStation.

Looking forward to playing: Grand Theft Auto V and Dead by Daylight will be my main games. Plus, I’ll be grabbing the remaining achievements in Crime Scene Cleaner and The Walking Dead: The Final Chapter.

I was lucky enough to get to playtest Copycat on Xbox before it went live on consoles. while I was running the PR for it myself, I still had a great time with the PC version and was happy with the excuse to play through it again. here is my first hour on Xbox, and you can read Galia’s PC Review [HERE]

I also beat Please, Touch the Artwork 2 again, this time on Nintendo Switch, which only takes about an hour. By the time you read this, it should be out. You can read Thomas’ review of the PC version [HERE].

I also completed all Song lists in Final Fantasy Theathrythm Final Bar Line on the Switch. That means I did all the optional story challenges, and some of them really required very specific teams, not just skill-based but with a little bit of planning involved, too.

Most interesting news of this week: I was so sad that I missed out on buying the Collector’s edition of Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 with the music box, but they just announced they will do another run. Sadly, without the game disc. I really hoped to buy the physical Xbox version.

Looking forward to playing: I’m counting down the days until the Ruffy and the Riverside code arrives, so I can experience it on Xbox and be among the first to collect some achievements ^^

This week I played more Resident Evil 4 RemakeCrime Scene Cleaner, and Baldur’s Gate 3. I’m still enjoying all of them quite a bit, and I believe I’m almost done with Crime Scene Cleaner. I’m not sure how much longer the other two will take me, but I’m enjoying them, so I’m okay with them still taking me a while.

Most interesting news of this week: The Blizzard/Activision acquisition shenanigans finally coming to a close, and Activision classics coming to gamepass, I’m looking forward for more Activision games to hopefully come soon.

Looking forward to playing: More Resident Evil 4 Remake and Crime Scene Cleaner.

This week started for me with PaperKlay. I’m not allowed to say much yet, but please keep an eye out for this game, which releases this week.

After that, I played Hotel Architect. What a great game! I was so addicted that I almost finished all the current content in one sitting (it is an early access title, so more content is coming). Having different maps and main objectives but mostly bonus objectives that aren’t required but still give a nice item was so much fun, it gave small goals to work toward while building a hotel.

Ahh, it was finally time for the sequel to Duck Detective to be released this week. I love this series, and the voice acting is so good! You can play the sequel without having played the first title, as the stories are standalone. Can we have a third title in this series, please 😄

I’ve also been playing Delicious: The First Course, as I like to play around 10 levels a day. I’m currently playing Cattle Country, which will launch this week as well.

Most interesting news of this week: How well Fantasy Life i: The Girl Who Steals Time is doing. I feel a lot of fomo, but there is so much to play that I’ll wait for a discount before buying it.

Looking forward to playing: Pipistrello and the Cursed Yoyo and Kabuto Park, both games releasing this week.

I’ve had less time for gaming this week than I would have liked. I’m having a new bathroom fitted, and it’s been very noisy. Thankfully, it’s almost finished now. In the evenings, I’ve been busy playing Doom: The Dark Ages. I’m on the last chapter, and my review is almost finished, so look out for that very soon.

I also played a little of Trident’s Tale, a new pirate game that I’ll be covering as soon as I finish Doom: The Dark Ages. I actually started it a week ago, but I can now talk about it. Watch this space.

Most interesting news of this week: Special edition Xbox controllers are being released to celebrate the 10th anniversary of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, and they look like a must-have for fans of the game.

Looking forward to playing: Catching up on Trident’s Tale and getting back into Clair Obscur: Expedition 33.
