It’s time to look back on the week we’ve just had! What did the weekdays look like for our writers? What was the biggest news from the week? And what are we looking forward to playing during the upcoming weekend? Our Eyes on the Week article will answer all three of these questions!
We’re curious about your opinion and played games, so be sure to share your stuff on our social media channels!

After my third attempt to unlock the ‘Merciful’ achievement in Contraband Police, I have finally achieved full completion. I thoroughly enjoyed my time playing, and I can’t wait until the DLC releases (whenever that may be) so I can return to patrolling the borders and catching smugglers in the act!
Another completion I managed this week was The Walking Dead: The Final Season. I finished up the two remaining achievements within a couple of hours, and can now say that all the games in the series are complete. I’m not sure how I would order them, but I’d certainly recommend them to everyone.
Season 2 of Overwatch started on Tuesday, giving me something to aim towards with the new in-game event. Illari got a new skin in the premium battle pass, but I can’t warrant spending £35 on it when I’m not a great fan of the fairy theme. Plus, one of her previous collaboration skins is back in the shop this week, and I’d rather get that, if any. I’m debating playing more competitively to either do some tank placements or make an attempt to get my support back to platinum after the horrible matches I had trying to get my drive. Thankfully, I did get it – my very first one!
After starting SCHiM some time ago, I decided it was finally time to return and complete the main game. A solid platformer. Also, because I’ve finished the game, I managed to get a review written in time for this post, which can be read [HERE] if you have a few minutes to spare.
Most interesting news of this week: Nothing has caught my attention this week.
Looking forward to playing: Overwatch and perhaps either delving back into Age of Mythology: Retold or starting something new.

I just started playing Cthulhu: The Cosmic Abyss as well, after reading Aaron’s glowing review, but I can’t say the game is hitting the same notes for me. It’s super easy to miss vital clues; the way I have to interact with the world isn’t very fun, and I constantly have FOMO about overlooking something, making me go through it at a glacial pace. I was also hoping for a bit more cosmic dread or horror than what I’ve seen in the first hours, and I feel like I’ll drop off before reaching the credits. Goes to show that not every game works for everyone.
What HAS been working for me is Screamer, which Benny reviewed for us. I love the voice acting, and it’s one of the more innovative racing games of recent years. I might just keep playing the arcade mode for a long time after beating the story.
On PS5, I’ve started playing The Spell Brigade, a Belgian-made 1-4 player co-op survival-like game that is soon coming to 1.0 on Steam and PS5. Hope I can find some time to properly test the co-op as I think that’ll be where it really shines.
And every single day, I play a few rounds of Dead As Disco, with my own custom music and trying to find the perfect beat to kick ass to.
Most interesting news of this week: For me personally, it was the big press & streamers playing Dead as Disco and giving it the attention it deserves. MoistCr1tikal just did a video on it!
Looking forward to playing: I’m not sure yet, but I want to tackle something from my backlog next. Maybe one of the older Resident Evil games.

My Meta Quest 3S has arrived, and since it comes with the Horizon+ subscription, I got to try a few different games on it, such as Beat Saber, Moss, and The House of Da Vinci VR, among others. It has been a really interesting experience, and I can’t wait to try out more games!
This week, I finished Zone 3 in Deadzone Rogue, which led me to the credits; however, there is a Zone 4 I still want to try out in the future. It has been a pretty fun roguelike.
I played about 15 minutes of Minishoot Adventures again, for the usual Xbox Game Pass/Microsoft Rewards quests, and I’m getting close to finishing it.
I also just got started on Mouse P.I. for Hire for my next review, and it has been a joy to play so far. There’s a lot to appreciate about it.
I played some more of Remnant II‘s DLCs with my friend again. We’re finally playing the last DLC, and it has been pretty good.
Finally, Marvel Rivals is back in the rotation, with me joining my friends for a few matches. We did not do well, and I wasn’t a big fan of the new character: Black Cat.
Most interesting news of this week: Mouse P.I. for Hire and Pragmata have just been released! And my Meta Quest 3S has arrived 😁
Looking forward to playing: More Mouse P.I. for Hire, Marvel Rivals, VR games and whatever I can fit into my schedule.

This week, I have been playing Gecko Gods on the Switch 2 for my review, which can be read [HERE]. While it has lots of promise and a nice setting, the Switch version is marred by various bugs and glitches, which spoil the experience. I really wanted to enjoy it more than I did.
My friend invited me over to his place to try VR for the first time. I played the first 45 minutes of Half-Life: Alyx, and it was a much better experience than I expected. Once I got used to placing the marker where I wanted to walk and the other controls, it felt really comfortable. The immersive feeling was incredible, and the way you can pick up objects and place or throw them felt really cool and responsive. It took me a while to master the telekinetic controls, where you can pull objects from out of your reach and catch them, including bullets used to reload your weapon. I hope to play more in the future.
I came across a game called Captain Puff McFly while browsing the Xbox Store. It’s a fast-paced, retro-style horizontal shoot-’em-up (shmup). While it’s pretty short and I’ve almost completed it, I’m glad I picked it up for the very low price. As you play, there are a few cool surprises along the way, and I liked how it adds a few new gameplay mechanics later in the game to keep things fresh.
I’ve also spent a bit more time with NAIAD, though not as much as I’d hoped, as other games have taken up most of my time. I’m looking forward to getting back to it soon.
Most interesting news of this week: Developer 4A Games has revealed Metro 2039, the newest entry in its gritty post-apocalyptic horror shooter series, scheduled for release this winter. The game is expected to continue the franchise’s focus on survival, dark storytelling, and tense combat on both the surface and underground in a ruined world.
Looking forward to playing: Pragmata.

Hello, I’m Victoria. I’m from the UK and have been playing video games for as long as I can remember; back on DreamCast. I’ve pretty much fallen for Xbox since I was around eight years old and remember BioShock being my first game on the Xbox360. Although I find it thoroughly enjoyable to not only experience gameplay, I also find comfort in getting lost and engrossed in the online worlds that sometimes differ greatly from what we know. Another side of my Xbox passion would be achievement hunting and gamerscore. I thrive when I hear the little sound of one popping up on the screen and I’m always finding ways to work on my backlog when possible. Horror is my favourite genre so if you have any recommendations, don’t be afraid to send them my way!
