Review | Bezier: Second Edition.

Who is ready for the latest sensation when it comes down to mobile two stick arcade games? Well, I sure wasn’t prepared for Bezier: Second Edition and the pure joy it was going to bring me. Why did Thalamus Digital Publishing take this much joy in stealing all of my precious time when I’m on the road? If you didn’t notice, that is a good thing! But let me tell you all about that right below!

We have played Bezier: Second Edition for 6 hours on the Nintendo Switch.

What we liked!

  • Graphic explosion: First of all, this game is a full-on explosion on your screen, and I loved it! It’s so full of colors! Every moment of gameplay will be paired with something (mostly A LOT) of things to look at, enhancing the immersion feeling! It’s hard to describe, but you will find three screenshots from the game spread in the post, which should give you an idea about what I mean.
  • Sounds: What would a game like this be without a right soundtrack? Well, nothing. Bezier has their own 80 minutes soundtrack that you can even listen to separately. And it’s a beauty to the ear. Also, the sound effects in the game are on point. I legitimately never felt bored or repeated on when it came to music and sound, which was a real joy considering the game’s price!
  • Backstory: I was also pleasantly surprised to find out that there is some sort of story linked to the gameplay! Each level discloses a little bit of the story to discover, and it’s quite catchy? Without spoiling too much, it will get on you, and you will do your absolute best to get further and further to see what happens. (It’s not too big of a story, but I found it pleasant)
  • Different levels: The game has various handcrafted maps with varying types of enemies! It keeps you busy and has some “learning curve” to it! Since if you see a particular kind of enemy spawn, you have to react differently to them. Some will swarm you and try to kill you like that, while others explode! And you should engage them all differently.

Somewhere between

  • Scoreboard: I must say, I was quite hyped to find out that the game has an internal scoreboard! And it’s a great idea if you would be allowed to have friends over. It’s all arcade-y, and you HAVE to add three letters at the end. So if you would be competing with other friends locally, you could leave a mark on your friend’s list, just to make him play it even more. But I find it annoying that you can’t use the switch’s touchscreen to select letters; you need to pull your joystick around in it.

What we disliked

  • Upgrades/downtime: Or more, the lack of it. It would have been a great addition to the game if there would be a way that you could upgrade your uptime of the guns. Since now, you will struggle to shoot your weapon the whole time since it will overheat. It frustrated me enough to be bothering.

CONCLUSION

91%

Bezier is an absolute must-have for people that like arcade games on the go. It’s light, engaging, and great to play. For the price of 5 euros, it will bring you more joy than buying a quarter-pizza! So I can say nothing but hella worth it!
