Hello everyone, I welcome you to a review of a game I adored when I was younger. Not only me, but a lot of friends played this game as well. Let’s see if you all can guess it. You get a large piece of land and build attractions on it, from little shops to colossal roller coasters. You can hire people to work in your park, like cleaners, mechanics, or people who walk around in a tiger suit and entertain them. Can you guess the game? If you guessed RollerCoaster Tycoon 3: Complete Edition, you are right! Developed by Frontier Developments and Published by Frontier Foundry, they are back with yet another part in the series. But how did this one do? Find out below.
What we liked!
- Customization: This game has so much customization! It’s incredible! You can change all the colors of your attractions, and if you sell umbrellas or balloons, you can color those as well. It’s lovely to see everyone run around with colored balloons, umbrellas, and then the same color trees and roads. At the same time, you have the same colors for your rollercoasters and other accents. It makes it all come together. You can also change what price you ask for every attraction and check if it’s going all right and what the guests are thinking about it.
- Information: As I mentioned before, you can look at what the guests are thinking, but that’s not all. Not even close. You can see what guests like the most. You can find out the profits of every attraction and what it is expected to make the next day. You can see how many people are on one attraction, and if it breaks, it will shut down, and a mechanic will automatically go there. Talking about mechanics, you can tell if they like their jobs. I have not been able to find where I can raise their salary even though you were able to in other RCT games. If they are unhappy, they will quit, and you’ll need to hire new ones. You can put your research budget up. Meaning you’ll put 200$ in researching, for example, rollercoasters, and have more chances to find new builds. You can see the objectives you need to complete to win the bronze, silver, and gold prize. And of course, you can see ALL the finances. This game gives you all the info you need to make a great park!
- Music: The music is what you are used to in these games. Very chill and laid back. Except when you zoom in close to the attractions. Then you’ll hear the rollercoasters go over their rails and hear the humans scream out of fear and joy. The music made me think back to old times together with the shouting. It was a joy to listen to this again, and I will be playing this more for this reason. Nostalgic vibes all the way. I almost forgot to add that with every attraction, you can add their theme. This will get very confusing if you place them close to each other but also gives a pleasant atmosphere.
- Attractions: There are so many attractions to build. Not to mention you can completely design each rollercoaster yourself! Then there is the standard and boring stuff like toilets and shops. The lovely balloon and umbrella shops that make your park lively and colorful. You can create pools and have animal shows. There are pool slides and trains you can build that go around your park for transport. Gentle rides, and we can also provide for the more hardcore guests with VERY high attractions or high-speed coasters. Oh, and of course they didn’t forget the little ones. There are child attractions too, like a merry go around or a simple slide. It’s all been thought off, and I didn’t think I missed something in the hours I played. I didn’t have to place the same thing multiple times to fill my park.

- Extra packs: The purpose of the Complete Edition is to allow for RCT3 to be sold on Steam again under a new name and publisher after Roller Coaster Tycoon 3 Platinum was taken down by Atari a few years ago. This version is not a “remaster.” However, this did add the Wild and Soaked pack. I don’t believe these add a whole lot to my experience. Yes, you can get more attractions to play around with, but it didn’t add that much. This game is on Steam for an excellent price though, so it might be okay. As said, I’m not sure about this.
What we disliked
- WARNING: I played the Wild pack quite a bit (mostly to find out if there are pandas… didn’t get any so far). But you can also place animals down. BIG WARNING! These are REAL animals and will hunt guests. I haven’t had this in any of my RCT games, and I just dropped one thinking it was fake. It started running at my guests who were running and screaming for their life. If this happens, you can click on the animal and try to shoot it. No, no, don’t call animal protection on me. It’s just to make them go to sleep so you can capture them again. I tried this, but holy damn, this is hard to hit. Especially if you like to put trees around as I do. I couldn’t see the damn tiger, and I panicked so hard I quit the game without saving, losing quite a bit of my progress. So, in my opinion, if the game sees you are about to drop a LION in the open, it should give you a warning.
