Review: Dungeons 3 – Complete Collection

Review: Dungeons 3 – Complete Collection

All the way back in October 2017, Kalypso Media gave us Dungeons 3, a game where you can show your creativity and build the best dungeon ever. Now at the end of last month, Kalypso Media gave us a brand new ‘version’ of the game: Dungeons 3 – Complete Collection. This new bundle contains the main game and all the other DLC’s that are currently available for it. So let’s join forces with all the evil in the world and see if we are worthy to build the evilest dungeon ever.

What we liked!

  • Voice-acting: One of the best things about this game is that it’s fully voice-acted. The narrator takes you literally on a story through the campaign and does this in a really funny way. Also, all the other characters that have lines in the game are done well. The voices fit the style of the game and more important than that, they fit the characters. The developers made the right choice to make it fully spoken since there is a lot of text piecing the game together and if you had to read all of it you would probably have given up after chapter one (well at least me).
  • Graphics: In addition to the voice-acting, another aspect that made the game appealing is the graphics. The style that it is designed in is really appealing and from what I experienced while playing, there is absolutely no lag in the game or whatsoever. Of course, the game has been around for a couple of years already, and the developers had enough time to take all the flaws out of the game.
  • Story: The base game has been around for a while now so I’m sure most of the readers are familiar with the story of the game. If not, go get familiar with it because it’s really enjoyable. You play as Thalya, who has fallen to evil and now runs a dungeon (story in a nutshell). But maintaining the dungeon is fun and with every new chapter in the story, you learn new aspects which makes your dungeon even stronger.
  • Humor: The last thing that really stands out is the humor that the developers have put into the game. They are constantly mocking themselves and always making fun of things they can make fun of. The game almost never gets boring, which is a good thing. And for me the type of humor that they used in the game made me want to play more and more.

Somewhere between

  • Repetitive: It’s not really a big issue, but after a while the game can get somewhat repetitive, since you are basically doing constantly the same thing. Building a dungeon, defending it and conquering the world. Yet, I don’t really find it an issue since the game is brought in a fun and humoristic way, which makes up for the whole issue.

What we disliked

  • Dungeon view: One particular thing that really annoyed me, is that you can’t zoom all the way out so you have a nice overview onyour dungeon. You can zoom out a tiny bit but then it’s just big enough to see a particular part but not the whole thing, you know. To be honest, it’s a thing that can be easily fixed and now with the release of the complete collection, I really hope the developers will add it in the future.

Conclusion

90%

If you haven’t played the game before the release of the complete collection, you should really consider getting it now it’s cheaper. Furthermore, the complete collection doesn’t really add anything new to the game. But it’s still a fun and good looking game to have and I’m sure that it’s a delight to have in your steam library.
